As he is accustomed to do every year and after two years of imprisonment when he couldn’t ascend for the festival, our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a ascended in the early morning hours on Thursday, the eve of the 7th Day of Passover to the remains of our Holy Temple to pray along with hundreds of his Chasidim.
At 1:56 am, the Rav shlit”a left his home for the direction of the Kotel (Western Wall), with hundreds of members of our community escorting him. At 2:10, he arrived at the Kotel, and after kissing the holy stones of the Kotel, he began saying the first of eight Tikkun HaKlali’s in a row along with the community with holy fire for over an hour and a half, for the salvation of the Jewish people, while at exactly that time, terrorists began launching missiles at Sderot and the areas around Gaza.
After the Tikkun HaKlali’s the Rav concluded with Kaddish with niggunim along with the community, which in the meantime was joined also by people from outside Jerusalem. After Kaddish, the Rav shlit”a prayed for the Jewish people while kissing the walls of the Kotel. He left with the song, “Ura Kevodi…”
At 3:50, the Rav returned to his home to continue the Avodah of the holy days, and the Shacharit prayer, Hallel, and Musaf.
