Eerie: Extinguish on Friday the Fire that Will be Saturday Night — Rav Berland Shlit”a

fire at ido hanavi prayer hall

Eerie revelation — Our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a speaks in a shiur on Friday about putting out a fire which was only to take place Motzei Shabbat (Saturday night) — Parashat Shemini 5782.

As was widely publicized in media outlets, on Motzei Shabbat Parashat Shemini, a fire broke out in the Prayer Hall of Rav Berland shlit”a and Shuvu Banim on Ido HaNavi St.

In a shiur given over in his home on Friday, the Rav shlit”a spoke in the past tense about a fire that already happened.  No one amongst those gathered understood what fire the Rav was referring to, however, those already familiar with the Rav’s Ruach HaKodesh (Divine inspiration) understood that the Rav had a hidden intention in his holy words.

On Motzei Shabbat, the community understood in retrospect what the Rav’s intention was, and that with his words he, in effect, extinguished the fire.  Although the fire caused property damage, it didn’t cause major injuries to people.  At the time, there were many people praying in the prayer hall.

“There was a fire, a big fire, a big fire and they couldn’t extinguish it.

“People were burned there.  There was a big fire.  Also here there was a big fire.”

The Rav turned to one of the participants in the shiur: “You need to know the Parasha [which speaks about the sons of Aharon being burned].”

“Okay.”

The Rav continued to caution in the past tense: “There was a big fire and people were burned.  There was a fire.  You didn’t see?  Bring the fire department…”

The Rav continues to turn to the participants and asks, “Do you know how to put out a fire?”

Immediately the Rav answers, “Take water.  A lot of water, a water tank.  There was one Englishman…there was a fire in a hotel.  Then the Englishman went with a jug of water to put out the fire.

“Here also there was a fire, and there wasn’t anyone to put it out, because there was a fire here previously!”

“Yes?” ask the participants who understand the the Rav is speaking about something that only he sees.

“Yes.  You need to prepare water always.  There is water here, it’s okay.  With this, it’s possible to put out the fire!”

The Rav blesses, “Baruch Ata Hashem… Shehakol niyah bedvaro.”

The participants answer “Amen.”
