Exclusive footage of Rav Berland in Uman, for Rosh Hashana 5779
By all accounts, the kibbutz (gathering) in Uman on Rosh Hashana 5779 was tremendously uplifting this year. A spirit of unprecedented unity pervaded the whole of Uman and at its centre, was Rav Eliezer Berland, shlita.
The Rav arrived in Uman around 8am Thursday morning, before Parshat Nitzavim (September 6, 2018) and was accompanied into Uman with full honors by the Ukrainian Police, who detailed a special group of security personnel to keep the Rav safe from the crush of thousands of people who wanted to see him, and come a little closer to the Tzaddik of the generation.
As you can see for yourself in the accompanying video, the security detail had their work cut out for them, as thousands of people congregated outside the Rav’s apartment in Uman – even in the pouring rain – waiting for him to come out and walk the few metres up to Rebbe Nachman’s Tziyon (grave), located at the corner of Pushkina and Belsinki Streets.
“Light is sown for the tzaddikim” – this was the refrain that accompanied the Rav with every step he took in Uman this year, 5779.
BH, we will bring further updates, more pictures, more footage and hopefully some of the secrets and insights that Rav Berland, shlita, shared about this forthcoming year during the kibbutz in Uman.
