Going to Uman — All the Lost Objects are with the Tzaddik — Daily Chizzuk

The Daily Chizzuk of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a — How is the promise of a crop sufficient for three years a curse and not a blessing?

“If you will say: What will we eat in the seventh year? — behold! we will not sow and not gather in our crops!  I will ordain My blessing for you the sixth year and it will yield a crop sufficient for the three-year period.  You will sow in the eighth year, but you will eat from the old crop; until the ninth year, until the arrival of its crop, you will eat the old” (Vayikra 25:20-22)

Sunday, 22 Sivan 5783

These are his holy words:

What is the meaning of “the crop will be sufficient for three years”?

If you ask questions, you will receive three years.  If you don’t ask, what will happen?  You need to ask in order to receive three years?!

Rabbi Eliyahu Lopian explained — he said that this is written in Sforno — that this is a curse and not a blessing.  Now what are we learning in Perek “Elu Metziot — These finds” (Baba Metzia Ch. 2)?

People don’t even know how to explain “Elu Metziot.”  In Cheidar, we began to learn “Elu Metziot,” but the rabbi didn’t explain to us what we were learning in “Elu Metziot.”

The truth is that it’s not talking at all about “metziot — finds.”  It says “metziot,” but which metziot?  No metziot!

Rabbi Yitzchak said: “A kav [of produce spread over an area of] four amot” (Baba Metzia 21:1).  Nu, what is a “kav”?  If you travel for a hour from Yesodot, from Beit Hilkia, from Komemiyut, in a truck full of watermelons, and the railing of the truck breaks open on the way.

The watermelons fall onto the road.  So what — are you going to go now and gather them?  People have lost tons of things.  Suddenly the railing of the truck breaks open, and everything flies out.  Now, is he going to travel back from Jerusalem to Komemiyut to look for it?  Somebody already took the drill!

What is the meaning of “a kav in four amot”?  Rami bar Chama said that they aren’t even talking here in “Elu metziot” about a found object!  Who invented it?  Who decided?

Hayav Lehachriz — One is obligated to announce” the numerical value [is referring to] Rebbe Nachman.  “Hayav Lehachriz” is exactly 292.  292 and another [two for the] two words is 294 — the numerical value of “Breslov” — Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.  The Rebbe is the one who returns all the lost objects.

“Elu Metziot” — all the lost objects are with the Tzaddik.  We are travelling to Uman, coming to the Tzaddik — so all the lost objects are with the Tzaddik — then there will be bounty!!  There will be oranges, there will wheat, there will be barley!
