Rabbi Berland’s Prayers for Holy Children #9
The last segments in the new series of translated prayers, this time from the booklet of prayers by Rabbi Berland to have Children Who Are Tzaddikim.
MORE PRAYERS SPECIFICALLY FOR MEN TO SAY FOR THEIR CHILDREN
90: Master of the world who can do anything.
Grant me true happiness, to be happy and to make others happy, to fulfiLl every day at every moment, “and he made happy his wife which he took.”
And every day, to increase the happiness with my wife and children, and to be glistening [with happiness] which makes other things ‘glisten’ [i.e. happy].
And to make my wife and children happy with all types of happiness in the world.
And always to increase, “satisfaction that bring happiness to Your face, pleasantness in Your right hand eternally”.
And not to show sadness ever, even if I go through what I have to go through, in no event will I fall into any sadness even a little, and I won’t allow any sadness to touch me at all.
Even if I fall into depression of the soul, I will know that this is only a passing imagination and that it has no reality at all, and there is never any reason to be sad even for one second.
Because Hashem is with us and Rabbenu and all the great Tzaddikim are helping us.
And I will not let any sadness touch me at all.
Even if I fall into depression of the soul, I will know that this is just a figment of the imagination which passes, and has no reality and no actuality. And that there is never any reason to be sad even for one second, because Hashem is with us and Rabbenu is helping us, and all the great Tzadikim are advocating only good for us, and only want to see our happiness.
And I will see only happiness and joy surrounding me.
And there will be fulfilled in me the verse, “they will show you and will see and you will be happy”.
And I will only come close to those Tzadikim who always speak of happiness, singing and dancing, and happiness in the home.
And I will rejoice with a happiness that has no end, in each and every point which I have merited, and may I build through this happiness wonderful structures.
And may I raise up to You enjoyment from each and every happiness that I have, enjoyment that never was since the beginning of the world, because every day You bring happiness to Your world, and enjoy anew Your world, in an unlimited way beyond reason.
And all Your expectation is towards those that rejoice at every moment and make happy all those that surround them, like it says in the Gemara Ta’anit, “who is a person destined for the World to Come? One who rejoices and causes others to be happy” – especially his wife and his children.
And may I merit to gather all the good which is found in each and every Jew.
And may I also merit to be a shaliach tzibbur [the prayer leader/appointee of the community] who prays on behalf of the nation of Israel.
And may I merit with my happiness and with the happiness of my wife and my children to sweeten the judgments from over me and from over all the house of Israel, and there will no longer be any damage and no bad occurrences in any Jewish home, G-d forbid.
And may I merit happiness that has no end and no limit, which bursts out from all the limits of the body, time and place.
And may I merit every day after my learning to burst out with immense happiness and to come home with the same happiness, and only to make my wife and my children happy also with a happiness which has no end and no limits.
And may I merit to always dance and prance with all my strength.
And like it says about King David, “and David sat to bless his household” that David came to bring happiness to the members of his household, so too may I merit to always come from Yeshiva and bring happiness to my wife with all types of happiness and not allow sadness to rule, not over my wife and not over anyone.
And I should only cause those around me to be happy, and strengthen my wife always with all types of happiness in the world.
And may I know that you are Hashem, G-d, who feeds and sustains and brings happiness and supports all the creations, with all types of happiness without end and beyond reason.
And all of Your desire is only to cause Your creations to be happy, like it’s written, “Israel rejoice in His actions, children of Zion rejoice in their King”.
And all my happiness should be to cause my wife to be happy, and to always make her feel comfortable, and may all my days, hours and minutes be filled only with endless happiness and joy beyond reason.
And in the merit of this may I be save from all types of bad thoughts, and from all types of thoughts of honor, and may I merit only true humility and lowliness.
And may I merit to be amongst those Tzadikim who eat only to satisfy their souls.
And may I merit to raise my children, with gentleness, with calmness, with joy, love, companionship and friendship, until I merit such happiness which nullifies all emotions.
And all matters of this world will be nullified from me through the immense happiness and joy that You will grant me. Because this is the purpose above all purposes, to rejoice in Hashem and to cling to Him, to know and to grasp Hashem Yitbarach who is the source of all happiness and joy, which will be the World to Come of all the Tzadikim and the Chassidim, as brought at the end of the introduction to ‘Sasson Ve’Simcha’.
Therefore, grant me the merit, Master of the World who is with me, the Source of all the pleasures and the happiness in all the worlds, to warn and to guard at every moment and second, that I will not let any sadness, G-d forbid, rule over me and enter my borders.
And in each and every point [of goodness] that I merit, may I merit to rejoice and to sing and to chant and to dance, endlessly and beyond reason, until I merit to connect my soul to Your G-dly knowledge, through each and every point [of goodness] that I merit, with knowledge which is above knowledge, and with pleasure which is above pleasure, endlessly and beyond reason.
And help me to believe with such emunah which is endless and beyond purpose, and all my feelings and my 248 limbs and 365 sinews will only be full internally and externally with this endless happiness.
And may I leave all the limits of the world and the body, because You are the pleasantness of my lifeforce, and the entire world is empty and nothing compared to one point of true happiness in Your holiness, Your Torah and Your prayer.
91. Master of the world who can do anything and from whom nothing is withheld.
Grant me the merit to pour out my heart like water before You, and through this may I be a modest (216) man (45) a holy (410) man (45) +1 = 717.
And may I no longer see any strange woman until the end of the days of my life, and through this may I merit to feel at every moment and second that my feet are standing on Mount (206) Horev (216) the Mountain (205) of G-d (91) = 717, and that I am hearing the Ten Commandments at every moment and second.
And in particular the awesome utterance of ‘do not commit adultery’ and ‘I will not covet’ and I will not lust after any lust any more, G-d forbid.
And all my will (351) and my thoughts (466) = 717 will only be to sanctify the holiness of the covenant.
And may I merit true peace in the home with true depth, between me and my wife, because You are the King whose peace (381) is with Him (336) = 717.
And to know that the entire world is filled with Your glory, like it’s written, “because (50) I am (61) G-d (26) in the midst (304) of the land (296) = 717”.
And may I merit to be like the tribe of Yissachar who learned Torah day and night without pause, like it’s written, “and the members of Yissachar know (100) understanding (67) of the times (550) = 717”.
And fulfill in me that which is called ‘a Torah Scholar’, and there will no longer be in me any further blemish of the covenant any more, like it says, “there wasn’t (31) ever (186) found (181) a stain (204) upon (100) his garment (15) = 717”.
And through myself and my wife meriting to fulfill, ‘they will flee from sin’ (326), may I merit to truly see that my wife is a very (45) important (326) woman (311) + 1 = 683.
And through this may I merit to educate my children in holiness and purity, through the fact that I too will merit true holiness and purity.
And through this may there be imbued in them the two awesome souls of Moshiach (358) the son of Yosef Moshiach (358) +1 = 717 the son of David, who will build the Beit HaMikdash speedily in our days, in the blink of an eye.
Amen, Netzach, Selah, Va’ed.
92. Master of the world who can do anything, and from whom nothing is withheld.
Grant me the merit to hear at every moment and second the Commandment, “I am (81) Hashem (26) Your G-d (66) who (501) took you out (532) of the land (331) of Egypt (380) from the house (452) of slavery (126) = 2495”.
And especially the commandment, “do not commit adultery”, that I will no longer see any strange woman at all, G-d forbid, and no strange girl at all G-d forbid, and I will not have thoughts of any woman and no girl G-d forbid.
And in the merit of this and in the merit of Avraham (248) Yitzchak (208) Yaakov (182) Moshe (345) Aharon (236) Yosef (156) David (14) Sarah (505) Rivka (307) Rachel (238) Leah (36) = 2495 may I start from today to learn all fourteen (14) books of the Rambam, with all the material that is relevant to them, day and night.
And may I merit (39) that my Torah (1016) learning (380) light up (221) like the (66) Urim (257) and Tumim (502) = 2495.
And in the merit of this, accept all my prayers which I hereby pray over my clean and pure children, and send them a complete recovery in the blink of an eye.
And may I merit to fulfill the verse, “and He said, if you will surely listen to the voice of Hashem Your G-d, and you will do (770) that which is straight (515) in His eyes (148) and you will listen (469) to His Commandments (588) = 2495 and guard all His laws, all the diseases which I placed on Egypt I will not place them on you, because I am Hashem Your healer”.
93. Master of the world who can do anything, and from whom nothing is withheld.
Grant me the merit that my wife and my children will be, “ a woman (701) of valor (48) who (50) can find (141) far (320) from pearls (280) is her worth (265) = 1805”.
And in the merit that I will fulfil, “fortunate is the man (45) who trusts (25) in You (22)” may she be kosher (525) like Sarah (525) like Rivka (327) like Rachel (258) like Leah (56) like Devorah (237) like Miriam (310) = 1805.
And may I merit to believe in the Tzaddik (209) the foundation (80) of the world (146) = 435, who performs all the salvations in the blink (305) of an eye (130) = 435.
And in the merit that I will love You with a love (13) without (42) limits (280) = 435 may I merit all the salvations with my righteous wife, and my righteous sons and daughters, and together with them may we rise up in spirituality higher and higher, until we all merit the level of Rabbenu HaKadosh, in the blink of an eye, Amen.
94. Guarder of the Covenant and Kindness, have mercy on me for the sake of Your name.
And grant me the merit from now to guard the holy covenant, that I will no longer cause any blemish at all in the holy covenant from now on.
And may I merit to sanctify myself even with that which is permitted with the height of holiness and separation truly in accordance with Your good will.
And help me and grant me the merit in Your great mercy to rectify in my life all the very many immense blemishes that I blemished in the holy covenant, from all my days until today.
Forgiver of the poor, have mercy and pardon me, because what will I do on the day of reckoning, and what has been reckoned how can it be ‘returned’?
Woe, who will protect me from the consuming fire, who will protect me from the eternal pyre?
Please, I will flee, please, I will run to receive help, please, I will carry my embarrassment, all masters of mercy and grace, those alive and dead, request mercy on my behalf, forgive the one who needs forgiveness like me, because there is no mercy in the world when the one who is blemished is against Hashem Yitbarach, and especially in a blemish of the covenant.
Master of the world, about whom it is said, “whose furnace is in Zion and whose oven is in Jerusalem”.
Have mercy on someone who is far away like me.
And grant me the merit to believe in the true Tzadik of the generation, the one who truly guards the covenant, whose mind is pure from all (bad) thoughts, and who never burned his mind through bad thoughts, and his eyes are clean and pure.
Please, Merciful and Gracious One, do not hide from me and from my wife and children the true Tzadik of the generation.
Despite the fact that we have blemished what we have blemished, and we have done what we have done, and we have sinned what we have sinned, and we have transgressed what we have transgressed, act for Your sake and for our sake, and for the sake of the true Tzadikim who truly guard the covenant, who invest in us all their strength, and who pray on us day and night to save us from our blemishes.
And to rectify all that we blemished, sinned and transgressed.
Master of the world, have mercy on me and my wife, and on all our children and on all our descendants and our descendants’ descendants, until the end of all the generations, and on all Your nation Israel.
And grant us the merit from now to return in teshuva to You.
And may we not return any more to our foolishness, and may we merit that the Tzadikim rectify all that we blemished in the holy covenant, because we don’t have it in our own hands to fix even the smallest blemish of a blemish of the covenant, only through the merit of the Tzadikim do we rely, and on their great power do we depend.
Grant us the merit in Your mercy to come close to the true Tzadikim who guard the covenant with the utmost completeness.
Have mercy on us and identify them to us, do not hide them from before us, may we merit to know them so that we can come truly close to them, and receive from them true holiness and purity in a way that we can from now on return in complete teshuva before You, to turn away from bad and to do good in Your eyes always.
Have mercy on us, so we merit to always believe in the true Tzadikim and our mind should not become confused and our intellect and our heart should not become crooked.
And it should not be difficult for us at all, even at the time when they are far from us, and their wonderful ways a far from our eyes, until many questions and disbeliefs fall upon us, and our minds becomes crooked and confused from the many wonders that fall upon our heart.
Please Hashem, act for the sake of Your will, don’t let our sins drag us away from them, G-d forbid.
As a result, may we only merit to strengthen ourselves with complete emunah always to believe in them, to know and to believe with complete emunah that all their ways are very straight and correct, and that they are righteous and straight in all their ways and their actions, it is just that it is impossible for us to grasp their awesome and exalted ways.
And may we merit that the Tzadikim have mercy on us and bring us close at every moment, and bring themselves down to us, and clothe their great light, in a way that we can merit that their light will be revealed to us through this.
And may we have strength to suckle from and draw from their great wisdom, and they will bring themselves close to the world, and they will have mercy on us with great love and compassion, and all of their thoughts will be only to draw us near and not to distance us, G-d forbid, in order that we may merit to be attached to them forever.
And may we merit in their strength and in their merit, that we may merit to know You and to truly come close to You.
And may we merit to recognise and know You also in this world.
And the more that we come close to You, may we merit to know at each time the greatness of our distance from You and may there spark within us at each time the wonders of Your greatness, that it is impossible to grasp and to know You at all, like Eliyahu said, “there is no one who knows You at all”.
And give us a measure in our hearts, that we may merit to come close to You, and to grasp knowledge of Your G-dliness from afar, which is impossible to speak of, other than according to the measure in each person’s heart.
As it’s written, “her husband is known in the gates (measure)”, each one according to the measure in his heart.
“The One who does great things which are beyond investigation, miracles and wonders which are beyond count”.
The One who can do anything, the Powerful One above all powerful ones, the Victorious One above all victorious ones, act now in Your great mercy, that I will merit to be victorious in the terrible war here in this world.
And that I will merit from today and onwards, my and my precious and kosher wife, my sons and my daughters and all my descendants until the end of the generations, to believe always in the true Tzadik with emunah without constrictions or limits, emunah without any questions or disbeliefs, G-d forbid.
95. Master of the world who can do anything and from whom nothing is withheld.
Grant me the merit to be saved from anger.
And to guard my eyes with the utmost guarding, anger (150) is the numerical value of nest (150), that through guarding myself from anger I will merit a bird’s nest, the sanctuary of Moshiach.
And through overcoming anger may I merit the spirit of Moshiach, “the breath of our nostrils the Moshiach of Hashem”.
And may I merit through overcoming my anger to riches and to wealth, and not to need to rely on others.
And may I merit through overcoming my anger to be Yosef, “the one that fed all the people of the land”, to draw down for everyone an abundance of income.
And through overcoming the lust of licentiousness, I and my wife and my sons and my daughters, may we all merit also, me and my wife, my sons and my daughters, to the breath of our nostrils, to the Moshiach.
And may we be saved from the breath (spirit) of jealousy of Moshiach that goes in every place and is zealous over blemishes of the covenant, from which come all the illnesses and suffering, on account of the fact that we are not concerned about blemishing the covenant.
Please Merciful and Gracious One, grant me and my wife and my sons and my daughters to be the utmostly holy and pure.
And that there will not be any bad ideas or any bad thoughts in us, and not in our sons and not in our daughters.
As it’s written in The Book of Traits (Sefer HaMidot), “that on account of the women being careful against licentiousness, Moshiach will come and also a person will not need [to rely on] his friend and the honor of the Tzadikim will grow”.
And may the honor of the true Tzadik be increased, account of me and on account of my wife and on account of my sons and daughters and all my descendants and my descendants’ descendants until the end of all the generations.
Rabbenu Nachman the son of Simcha the son of Faige, who is the breath of our nostrils, and who gives us life every moment and second, in in whose merit will come the complete redemption, in the blink of an eye, Amen.
96. Master of the world who can do anything.
Grant me the merit to completely get out of the lust for women.
And may I hate this lust more than anything else in the world.
And through this may I merit to love you with a complete heart, and merit to transform the seventy bonfires that burn within me into holy fire of love of Hashem.
And then there will be fulfilled in me the verse, “I will thank (16) Hashem (26) with all (52) my heart (34) = 128”.
And through this may I merit a wealth of money, and I will be able to provide for everyone, and to do kindnesses for everyone, and to be Yosef who fed all the people of the land.
And may I get out completely from the lust for eating, and may I hate food with the hatred of death, and may I feel terrible suffering from each and every spoonful of food, like our holy and awesome Rabbi.
And in the merit of this may I merit to break the lust for money, and through this may I merit an endless abundance of precious (423) stones (103) and pearls.
And in the merit of this, Father, Merciful and Gracious One, may I merit to learn Torah (611) for Your sake (375).
And through this may I merit to educate my children in truth, and there will be imbued in them the souls of Moshiach (358) the son of (52) Yosef (156) Moshiach (358) the son of (52) David (14) = 990 who will bring the complete redemption = 990.
And may I learn Torah for Your sake, in the air of the Land of Israel, because there is (50) no (61) wisdom (73) like the wisdom (93) of (350) the Land (291) of Israel (541) = 1439.
“And all (50) the land (296) will know (96) that (30) there is (310) a G-d (86) in Israel (571) = 1439”.
“And Hashem (26) our G-d (102) will be (25) with us (166) like (521) He was (20) with (110) our forefathers (475) = 1439”.
And may I merit all (50) the levels (546) of Torah (616) and fear of heaven (227) = 1439.
And may I merit to pray with intention with each and every word and each and every letter, and there should come out from me any letter, G-d forbid, which is not with intention, in the merit of David (24) the servant (76) of Hashem (26) = 128 who served Hashem in truth with all his 248 limbs and his 368 sinews, and with all of his nefesh, ruach, neshamah, chayah and yechida [levels of soul].
And may I merit to truly pray the prayers, every day, at every time, with the utmost intention, and through this may I merit to subdue all eleven chiefs of Esav permanently.
97. Master of the world, who can do anything, and from whom nothing is withheld.
Please Hashem, “rule (356) over (100) all (50) the land (296) with Your carefulness (332) = 1134”.
And may I no longer ever touch the holy place until the end of all my life, and I will know that, “there is (310) a G-d (86) that rules (445) in the land (293) = 1134” and every time we touch there, there is a terrible and frightening punishment.
And through this may I merit children that are holy and pure, truly attached to our holy and awesome Rabbi, Rabbi Nachman the son of Simcha the son of Faige.
And all of our prayers and their prayers will be accepted, and there will be fulfilled in them the verse, “because is there (50) a great (43) nation (19) which (501) has (36) a G-d (86) close (352) to him (47) = 1134, like Hashem our G-d for all who call out to Him”.
98. Master of the world who can do anything.
Grant me the merit to be accurate, “to (31) a hairsbreadth (580) = 817 and he will not sin”.
And may I merit that you open for me all the gates (580) of holiness (420) = 1000, and may I merit guarding my eyes, and may I no longer see any strange woman, G-d forbid, and no strange girl, G-d forbid.
And may I merit to learn with immense enthusiasm, and to be a revered (516) student (484) = 1000 of our holy and awesome Rabbi, Rabbi Nachman the son of Simcha the son of Faige.
And each and every day may I do an hour of hitbodedut.
And may we merit, Hashem who is One (1), that there will be imbued in our children the soul of Rabbenu (268) Nachman (148) the son of (52) Simcha (353) = 822 the son of Faige.
And may I merit to have more sons and daughters, and all of them will be awesome Tzadikim, and there will be imbued in all of them the essence (200) of the soul (790) of our holy (415) and awesome (268) Rabbi (268) = 1941 Rabbenu Nachman the son of Simcha the son of Faige.
And all of them will merit to fulfil the saying of Yehuda ben Taima,
“[B]e bold as a leopard, light as an eagle, run like a deer, and strong as a lion, to do the will of our Father in heaven”.
And may my wife merit immense happiness.
And may we merit to give up our lives on (100) the unification (34) and togetherness (431) of His Blessed (632) Name (346) = 1543, and through this may our home be fulfilled with “light (212) and happiness (359) joy (656) and preciousness (316) = 1543”.
GUIDANCE IN THE MATTER OF EDUCATING CHILDREN
Always speak gently to children, and never raise your voice, and don’t hit them G-d forbid, because children are vessels for the light of Ain Sof.
For they are the vessels which are attained by Mother and Father, because the father and mother are an aspect of Atik Yomin, and all their bodies and souls and their spirit are spread into their children, because the father is an aspect of Raisha of Atik Yomin, and the mother is an aspect of Raisha d’lo ityada of Atik Yomin.
And every father and mother is obligated to bring ten children into the world, which is an aspect of the ten Sefirot which spread out from Atik Yomin, from Raisha, and from Raisha d’lav raisha, and from Raisha d’lo ityada.
Therefore, it is completely forbidden to shout at children, and to weaken their spirit.
For if the mother and father are Raisha of Atik Yomin of Atzilut, then their ten children are the ten letters of yud, kei, vav, kei. And it is necessary that all the children be encompassed in each other, chochma and chesed in netzach, bina and gevurah in hod, da’at and tiferet in Yesod.
Because Abba is enclothed in Atik Yomin, until his midriff on the right side which is chesed and Ima is enclothed in Atik Yomin from the left side until the midriff, in the secret of “with me from Levanon a bride, with me from Levanon she will come” because the Upper Bride which is the Upper Ima influences down all the 32 pathways of wisdom, and all the 50 gates of understanding, in the secret of ‘Levanon’.
And the main influence is in the month of Tevet, the numerical value of ‘with me’ = 411, and the height of influence is the first of Tevet, when “since Moshe explained this Torah” in seventy languages, “B’er Haytev (a clear explanation)”, because in Father and Mother is enclothed an upper strength of the shining of Adam HaRishon.
Because Adam HaRishon encompassed all the neshamot and the ruchot and the yechidot like it’s written about the daughter of Yiftach who was brought up on an altar on the 10th of Tevet, and this is the month from where all the yechidot influence, like it’s written about the daughter of Yiftach, “and she is unique/alone (yechida) she has no Mother”.
Because she was encompassed in the upper Abba, because in the month of Tevet one is encompassed in the upper Abba, in the inner lights of Abba, because the breaking occurred in the vessels and not in the lights.
And the entire matter of the month of Tevet and children, is to reveal the hidden powers from which emanate all the worlds, and in particular the soul of Adam HaRishon, from which emanated all the neshamot, ruchot and yechidot.
And therefore it is forbidden to rebuke a child with any reprimand, because he is an aspect of yechida, like it says about the daughter of Yiftach, “and she was yechida”.
We hope you enjoyed this series of prayers. Watch out for them to be collated into the next volume of Rabbi Eliezer Berland’s Prayers, Prayers #3, to have holy children.
