Our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a, accompanied by hundreds of followers, came to the Kotel during the early morning of Tuesday 10 Sivan to fulfill the mitzvah of “aliyah l’regel,” ascending to the place of the Temple in honor of the festival of Shavuot.
The Rav left his home at 3:35 in the morning during the days of “hashlemah” (the 6 days following Shavuot). As is known, Shavuot is celebrated one day, but aliyah l’regel continues for a week as brought in the Rambam (Hilchot Hagigah 1:7), “Anyone who did not bring the [korban] Hagigah on the day of Shavuot, can bring all seven days, and he has all six days after the Shavuot holiday to complete it.” Within minutes of the Rav’s arrival, hundreds of the Rav’s followers gathered around him. Together, they recited eight Tikkun HaKlali’s in a row with melody, pleasantness, and great vitality.
After over an hour and a half of saying the Tikkun HaKlali, the Rav shlit”a kissed the holy stones of the Kotel and said a silent prayer, followed by Kaddish. The Rav then left along with hundreds of his followers singing the song “Ura Kivodi (Awaken my glory…).”
