Secret of Nadav and Avihu, Secret of the Giving of the Torah – Daily Ma’amar

The Daily Ma’amar of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a, courtesy of the “Hashem Hu HaElokim” leaflet:

The whole world stands on one fin of the Leviathan, and the Leviathan puts his head in the Garden of Eden so that mortals will not die from its smell [Baba Batra 75a].

And Rabbah bar Bar Chanah said:  Once we were travelling in a ship and the ship travelled between one fin and the other fin of a fish for three days and three nights.  It was [travelling] upward, and we downward.  And if you would say that the ship did not travel very fast, when Rav Dimi came, he said: In the [amount of time required] to heat a kettle of water, it travels sixty parasangs.  And a horseman shot an arrow, and [the ship] outraced it. And Rav Ashi said: That [fish] was a sea GILDaNA [initial letters of A’tah G’ibor L’eOlam A’don-ai], the secret of the name Alef Gimel Lamed Alef, with which Yehuda fulfilled the words of his father Yaakov – “Your hand shall be on the nape of your enemies,” and in this way Yehuda defeated all the enemies of Hashem.

And David conquered until the Euphrates and the Tigris, the secret of “two fins,” and he wanted to conquer until Rome, and said (Tehilim 108:11): “Who will bring me to the fortified city [=Rome]?  Who has led me unto Edom?” [“Italy of Greece”], that about this Yitzchak said, “Of the fatness of the earth shall be your dwelling and of the dew of the heavens from above.”  And then Hashem answered David: I know, David, that your hands are diligent, and you can conquer the whole world, but still the time has not yet arrived, only in 6093, and then we will merit to the first three [sefirot], which are Keter (Crown) Chochma (Wisdom) Binah (Understanding), and the letter Tzadi – for the revelation of the Tzaddik, who through his power, it is fulfilled “He shall lead nations under us and regimes beneath our feet.  He will choose our heritage for us, the pride of Yaakov that He loves, Selah.  God has ascended with the blast; Hashem, with the sound of the shofar.  Make music for God, make music; make music for our King, make music” – four times, opposite four worlds: Asiyah, Yetzirah, Beriyah, Atzilut.

For in every single world there is a Leviathan, that on one of its fins stands the entire world, the sun and the stars without end, and it only has two fins.

And then it will be fulfilled in the year 6093: “All you nations, join hands; sound the shofar to God with a cry of joy.  For Hashem is supreme, awesome; a great King over all the earth.  He shall lead nations under us and regimes beneath our feet.”

And all this Nadav and Avihu wanted to fulfill and accomplish through burning the incense which has 11 spices, and to bring it into the Holy of Holies, and then all the nations would tremble and be burned, as it is written, “Then the chieftains of Edom were confounded; trembling [=274] gripped the powers of Moav,” through the joining of Rachel and Leah [=274], that only Nadav and Avihu knew how to join them and how to bring the heels of Leah into the Keter of Rachel, and then the sole of Leah will turn into the Keter of Rachel, and then the Ten Commandments that were heard on Mt. Sinai will be heard anew.

However, “As for man: In glory he shall not repose, he is likened to the silenced animals.  This is their way, folly is theirs, yet of their destiny their mouths speak soothingly, Selah!  Like sheep, they are destined for the Lower Word, death shall consume them; and the upright shall dominate them…” [Tehilim 49].

For Nadav and Avihu wanted to make heard anew to the whole Jewish people all Ten Commandments”: “I am Hashem your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves” which is the numerical value of 2495, the numerical value of the Seven Shepherds and the four Foremothers [Avraham Yitzchak Yaakov Moshe Aharon Yosef David, Sarah Rivka Rachel Leah], that only through their merit is it possible to hear anew all Ten Commandments, with sounds and lightning, with lightning and torches of fire, like Devorah the prophetess sang twice “Anochi – I” on Mt. Tabor and through this made heard to them twice anew all Ten Commandments.

However, since Barak did not want to go immediately at the moment that she told him to fight Sisra, and hesitated and made conditions, Devorah told him [Shoftime 4:9]: “Efes – nothing” – as if to say: You are basically nothing, and “the path will not be for your glory.”

“For Mine is every beast of the forest, the animals of a thousand mountains.  I know every bird of the mountains, and what creeps upon My fields is with Me.  Even were I hungry I would not tell you, for Mine is the world and its fullness [Tehilim 50].

For Devorah wanted to show to the world “what creeps upon My field,” which stands until its ankles in water [Baba Batra 74b], and to show to the Jewish people the animals of a thousand fields, which is larger than the whole planet earth, and lies down upon a thousand mountains, and about it is said “He causes vegetation to sprout for the animal” – that Hashem makes vegetation grow on a thousand mountains every single hour for it, and it swallows up everything in a single second.

For “a thousand mountains,” in the secret of “You, Shlomo, can have your thousand,” the numerical value of Og King of the Bashan and Sichon King of the Emorite [=1000], that Moshe subdued them, and they come in every single generation anew, and we need King Shlomo to build for us the Temple and to subdue them.

And about this, the Divine Presence said to Shlomo: “You, Shlomo, can have your thousand,” and then will be fulfilled “Do good in Your favor unto Tzion; build the walls of Jerusalem.  Then You will desire the offerings of righteousness, burnt-offerings, and whole offering; then will bulls go up upon Your altar.”

And this is what Rabbi Akiva says in “Otiot Rabbi Akiva” [Letter Bet]: That all of this will happen in 6093 of the seventh millennium, that then everyone will recognize the true Tzaddik and merit to the first three [sefirot].
