On Wednesday afternoon, tutors from the “Mishkani (My Dwelling)” organization for the advancement and educational assistance of bachurim (young men learning in yeshiva) entered the home of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a for a shiur. The organization works together with the “Chaburat Bnei HaNeurim l’Avodat Hashem (Youth Group for the Service of Hashem).”
The work of the Mishkani organization is focused on helping bachurim who are having difficulty in learning and understanding the sections of Gemara and other material that are learned in yeshivas. Most of the tutors of the organization are young married kollel students who are appointed to help the bachurim. It’s worth pointing out that they do this completely voluntarily.
As part of the effort to make the organization more effective, the tutors meet every month in a committee, and there they place an emphasis on how to strengthen and improve the work of this act of kindness.
Like every month, the tutors met also this month. After the regular meeting, they went up for a shiur of chizzuk from our Rebbe Rav Berland shlit”a.
In the shiur Rav Berland shlit”a spoke about the value of being a help to bachurim who have trouble with their learning. The Rav emphasized how to make the learning likeable to the bachurim, how to explain to them the words of the Gemara in Kiddushin that it’s impossible to sanctify a bride with thought like it is with Terumah. Amidst this discussion, the Rav spoke of the Aggadah about Miriam, that she only intended to save her brother, Moshe.
The Rav also gave chizzuk to the subject of distancing oneself from impure electronic devices, as spoken of by Gedoley Yisrael. At the conclusion of the shiur, the tutors of “Mishkani” left encouraged in their continuing efforts to strengthen and help the bachurim of the Shuvu Banim community.
