Every chatzot (halachic midnight) in Bnei Brak the “Chatzot Kollel” (a Torah learning program held at chatzot) is held in the Beit Midrash “Torah V”Chaim” under the direction of the elder sage of the Torah Sages Council, the great Gaon Rabbi Shimon Badani shlit”a.
Every Wednesday, the holy group gathers, meriting to hear at chatzot a shiur in Kabbalah and the hidden Torah by Rabbi Shlomo Elmeliach shlit”a, a longstanding student of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a.
The kollel students merited to enter Rav Berland’s home last night, the evening of Rosh Chodesh Sivan, for a shiur. In the shiur, the Rav shlit”a spoke about Aggada in biblical verses from II Kings, and revealed a number of insights regarding Eliyahu HaNavi, Achav, and Isabel. Afterwards, the Rav spoke about the miracles which Hashem did to Sisra in the merit of Devorah the prophetess. Afterwards, he spoke about the Gemara in Sanhedrin 93a about the story of Achav ben Kulia and Tzedkiah ben Maasiah, that Nebuchadnetzar made them like roasted grain. Afterwards, he spoke about the angels from the upper chariot which escort a person in all his ways. Below is a short excerpt from the shiur:
“A person goes out on the way; he reaches Ashdod. So 300,000 myriads of angels escort him. How doesn’t he have an accident? [Because of] 300,000 myriads of angels. After this, in returning, 350,000 myriads of eagles — angels in the form of eagles — escort him. 350,000 myriad eagles guard him from all harm. No accident can overcome him – a person travels from Jerusalem to Ashdod…”
At the conclusion, after more than fifty minutes, the Rav shlit”a strengthened the kollel students in a number of other subject, concluding the shiur with Kaddish with niggunim. The strengthened participants went out to pray Ma’ariv together with the Rav shlit”a, like every evening in the courtyard of the Prayer Hall.
