We Need to Mitigate That There Should Not Be a Holocaust in Israel, Chas V’Shalom – Daily Chizzuk with R’ Eliezer Berland Shlit”a

The Daily Chizzuk of our Rebbe, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit”a – “The destruction of the Ukraine is because of the torture which they committed there to the Jews – they won’t reach Uman.”

Monday 18 Menachem Av 5782

These are his holy words:

Rabbi Yeshayahu of Kerestir [Rabbi Yeshayah Steiner, known as “Rabbi Yeshaya’la of Kerestir” (1852-1925), the founder of Chasidut Kerestir, served as Admor in the city of Kerestir, near Miskolc, Hungary] promised thirty years before the Holocaust – at three in the morning, it was Motza’ey Shabbat, Maleveh Malkah – he said, “Now I will reveal to you a secret.  In another thirty years, there’s going to be such a shoah [the Hebrew word for the Holocaust — lit. catastrophe], that there never was from the creation of the world, and no Jew will remain living.

“There will be horrific torture.”  In Myropil, there was the most torture of Jews, so [the Russians] destroyed it to its foundations after eighty years.  This was in 1942, and now it’s 2022.  They destroyed it to its foundations, the entire city.  All the torture which they did there to Jews, everything the Ukrainians did.  Now He [Hashem] is uprooting their cities.

They won’t reach Uman.

However, the Gemara says that the question is who can fight and stand up against the shoah of Avraham Avinu.

Rabbi Yechiel Meir of Ostrowiec fasted forty years.  He said there is going to be a Holocaust; therefore, we need to fast.

Rav Avraham Elimelech of Karlin [Rabbi Avraham Elimelech Perlov of Karlin (1891-1942) was the eighth Admor in the succession of Chasidut Karlin, which he headed from 1921 until his murder in the Holocaust in 1942] said that if they would fast on Rosh Hashanah like Mordechai fasted on Passover, they would cancel the Holocaust.

Rav Elimelech of Karlin came to Meron on 1 Av and was there until Rosh Chodesh Elul.  He went to all the graves of the tzaddikim, and he screamed such screams in Meron that they almost heard it until Tzfat.  He screamed screams that were heard in several streets.  All of his prayers were in screams, skipping, and dancing.

Rabbi Avraham Elimelech was the Rebbe of Karlin of all Europe.  He had some thousand yeshivot.  In every city he had a yeshiva.  People came from all the corners of the earth.  He gave out such screams that reached until Meron, such screams that his assistant ran to him with boiling milk [that his voice was so hoarse from screaming].

The Rebbe of Karlin felt that his prayer wasn’t answered, and that this was the rectification of 6,000 years, because they couldn’t enter straight into the Garden of Eden.  The Holocaust was the Nahar Dinur [lit. River of Fire, through which souls pass in Gehinnom].  It was simply the Nahar Dinur, one needs to pass through [it] before going into the Garden of Eden.  This hurts less than the Nahar Dinur.

Many Tzaddikim knew that there was going to be a Holocaust.  The Rabbi that was in the cheider of this child who was already age 16.  He was the son-in-law of the Rebbe of Kerestir, and he also knew about this prophecy [of Rebbe Yeshaya’la about the Holocaust], that he said that in another thirty years, there’s going to be such a shoah like there hasn’t been since the creation of the world, and he who serves me [Rebbe Yeshaya’la] faithfully, his grandson will be saved.

“You already will be old men; just see that the Germans are coming in.”  He said to his chief assistant, “Your grandson will be saved.  I’ll watch over him.”  Thirty years before the Holocaust began, he said to them: “Know that in another thirty years there’s going to be such a shoah like there hasn’t been since the creation of the world.  Before the Jews ascend to Israel; this was the preparation for the Land of Israel – the Holocaust.

There was such a Holocaust, that all nations agreed that they need to give the Land of Israel to the Jews.  It’s impossible to go through another Holocaust like this.  The entire Holocaust was because they didn’t have the Land of Israel.  So before Hashem would bring the Jewish people to Israel, the holy land, the Jews would need to go through terrible suffering, the most awful suffering that there hadn’t been from the time the world was created, and all of Europe was filled with Jewish blood.

Rebbe Naftali of Ropshitz said [Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Horowitz of Ropshitz (1760-1827), was an Admor in Galicia and founded Chasidut Ropshitz] the redemption will be when they walk in blood until the knees.  Then they can come, to return to the Land of Israel.

Now, in the Land of Israel, we’re already under [the rule] of the Erev Rav (the Mixed Multitude), but we, with Hashem’s help – Hashem should help that there won’t be another Holocaust.  Like he [Rebbe Yeshaya’la] said to his chasid: “Such terrible suffering will happen like there hasn’t been since the creation of the world, and the whole world will be stained with Jewish blood.  I already won’t be in the world, but you will see how this will begin, that the Nazis enter.  Your grandson will be saved.  I will stand by the side of your grandson.

“I owe you for being closer to me than everyone, and I will shield the grandson for you.”

The grandson relates how he was lying in the snow after the Germans fired on him.  The story was that he moved from Chukai to Kerestir.  There were ferries.  The Germans ruled and it was forbidden for Jews to enter ferries.  Some lawyer came and said, “They are my escorts.”

“I don’t believe you.  Where are the documents?”

“There’s no documents.  I left them at home!”

For all six hours the lawyer argued, but they knew that he was lying to them.  Then they waited for the children to come off the ferries.  One child lived in Kerestir, and the other lived in Chukai.  The German waited for the grandson to come off the ferry, and then sniped at him, fired at his shoulder, and he fell on the snow.  He was wallowing in his blood and like this he was lying for two days until the priest himself called the entire town with bells.  He said to go the survivors of the Gestapo, that they must save this child.  Because the Germans didn’t even allow [them] to get close to the child, he bled for two days.  His arm almost became paralyzed.

The grandson, Yitzchak Shwartz, met at Auschwitz on the benches some Breslover who explained to him that everything was reincarnations.  He said to him. “You should know that everything is a matter of reincarnations.  Everyone needs to pay for 6,000 years [since the creation of the world].  We’re now 6,000 years minus 200.  A hundred times [people] return in reincarnation.

“If there is the true Tzaddik, then it is possible to get through this world, to receive a rectification without suffering.  But if a person doesn’t know of the Tzaddik, then he needs to atone for all his reincarnations.”

The one who explained [this] in Auschwitz was a Chasid Breslov.  He passed away afterwards.  He knew the entire Zohar by memory.  He would recite the Zohar from memory.  He says to him, “Know that everything is reincarnations, and each person according to his reincarnations needs to go through what we are going through now.”

He [the grandson] asks [a figure which was revealed to him], “How did you come to here?”

“I can’t tell you how I came!”

“Who told you to reveal yourself to me?”

“He who causes the sun to shine in the morning!”  A person comes to the Shacharit prayer, he causes the sun to shine.  Those who pray Shacharit at sunrise cause the sun to shine.

“Who will take me from here?”

“You’re now in the hands of the Accuser!  The entire Holocaust is a revelation of the Accuser.  The Accuser now descended below, and he is bringing about the entire Holocaust!”

[The grandson relates:] Suddenly, the glowing figure disappeared.  After this, it revealed itself to him another time.  This was exactly the last day of the war, two days before the end of the war.  There was a death march.  He already weighed 35 kg.  He felt that he already couldn’t walk anymore.  They went over a bridge.  He stopped there on the bridge, and the Germans – whoever stops they would fire on him.  He knew that now the German who walks after him is reaching him and would fire on him.

He leaned on the bridge, feeling that he has no strength, and suddenly he reveals himself to him another time.  Rabbi Yeshaya’la of Kerestir says to him, “Continue.  You have another hour to walk and you will reach a camp, the place, and the war will end within a day or two.”  This was the second revelation, on a bridge amongst the Germans.
