The Miracle of the Splitting of the Red Sea — How Rav Berland Shlit”a Responded to Election Results

Anyone who followed the recent shuirim of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a, could not miss the fact that the elections this time were on the Rav’s mind, with the Rav expressing the importance of voting and saying that this is a true war for Judaism, the Torah and those who learn it.

The Rav’s grandson and assistant, Rav Dov Zucker, speaks in an interview with the Breslov Information Line about the reaction of the Rav shlit”a to the election results, when it became apparent that the side of the supporters of Torah had a true victory.  Below is an excerpt from the interview:

“The Rav responded to the results [that] here there was a miracle [like] the splitting of the Red Sea.  This was his first expression.  The Rav took interest in which anti-Torah parties didn’t pass [the electoral threshold], and [we] saw that it was important to the Rav that the cause of Torah be uplifted.  Everyone saw this, that we see that in every place of the Rav’s talmidim, the cause of “Agudah” was uplifted.

“Afterwards, the Rav shlit”a explained and said that every Jew honors the Torah, because also those who vote for anti-Torah parties, it was [only] because they led them astray…”

Afterwards, Rav Zucker explained at length what was different about these elections from others, and why the Rav shlit”a spoke so sharply about the matter of the elections:

“It’s possible to say that the Rav himself fought in an unprecedented fashion.  All the years, the Rav spoke about the elections, but now there was a matter of war here, like the Rav emphasized: these are not elections — this is a war.  There was a Jew here who never went to vote, [and] he went to vote.  He told me that from my point of view, I didn’t vote in elections, [because] these aren’t elections — this is a war.  I went to fight, I went to throw a stone on the head of the Sitra Achra in this that I went to vote.  And it’s possible to say that this mamash made an impact, such mobilization.  They called me today from Agudah to say a special thank you to the Rav and the community for the great mobilization.  They feel this on the ground in votes, that the Rav brought this about, both spiritually and materially.”

Afterwards, Rav Zucker spoke about the spiritual aspect that the Rav shlit”a brought about, that there were real open miracles in these elections.  Likewise, he spoke about the fact that the Rav shlit”a specifically arose early to vote, as it’s possible to hear in the full interview in Hebrew
