WHAT’S REALLY PROTECTING ISRAEL – THE DREAM

A young man came to one of the prayer gatherings being held temporarily at the bottom of the building where Rav Eliezer Berland, shlita, lives, in Jerusalem. He happened to bump into the editor of the Knishta Hada newsletter, and asked him: ‘When is the Rav going to be coming out, to join the community for the prayers?’
At that point, Rabbi Rachamim Bracha, the original editor of the Knishta Hada newsletter joined the conversation. (Rabbi Bracha is now producing a new newsletter in Hebrew, called Ha Esh Sheli (‘My Fire’). Rabbi Bracha describes what happened next:
“We carried on talking a while, and this young avreich (Torah student) told me that he came from Bnei Brak, and that this was his first time travelling to pray with Moranu Rav Berland, shlita, in Jerusalem,” he recounts.
“So I asked him what brought him to the prayers with the Rav, shlita, and he told me that he’d come because of a dream he’d had. ‘A dream?’ I asked him, a little surprised. ‘Yes, a dream!’ he told me, completely serious.
“’I had a dream about Rav Berland, shlita, and in the dream I saw that the Tzaddik was bigger than the whole of Eretz Israel, and that he was standing and looking over the whole of the country. I was still trying to figure out the meaning of what I was seeing, when suddenly a total war exploded in my dream,’ continued the avreich.
“’Immediately, the Tzaddik spread his tallit (prayer shawl) over the whole of Eretz Israel, while continuing to hold onto it, but the whole of Eretz Yisrael was covered by it.’”
Rav Bracha continues: “I was amazed; after all, I knew that the Rav, shlita, has spoken on many occasions about his efforts to sweeten the decree of the rockets and missiles, and here, this avreich was telling me in all innocence about his dream, and he’d never even heard the words of the Rav.
“So I had to ask him, what happened at the end of the dream? He told me: ‘All the missiles were caught by the tallit that the Tzaddik had spread out. I went to my Rosh Kollel, and told him about my dream, and he told me: ‘The tzaddik Rav Berland, shlita, is protecting the whole of Eretz Israel.’ So, I came to see for myself who this tzaddik really is,’ concluded the avreich.”
