You Spoke about Someone? You Spilled Rivers of Blood — Daily Chizzuk with Rav Berland Shlit”a

Daily Chizzuk of our Rebbe Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a.  Why does the Torah interrupt in the middle of the subject of Nadav and Avihu and begin the subject of Tazria and Metzora?

Thursday, 4 Iyar 5782

These are his holy words:

It’s written in all the holy books, in Noam Elimelech, that suddenly in the middle [of the Parasha], Shuvu Banim inserted “Tazria Metzora” in the middle of the Parasha!

Your speaking about Nadav and Avihu.  We want to know what happened to them.  Suddenly, we go over to “Tazria Metzora.”  It becomes tza’arat here, tza’arat there, tza’arat on the head, tza’arat on the shoulder.

Who did this?  Until this day I have questions.

We slaughter the bird and put it into the blood.  What is “into the blood”?

Rather, the moment that you speak about someone, you spilled rivers of blood.  They say to him, “How much blood did you spill when you spoke about one person!”

You said: Yes, so, true.

It’s not necessary to speak about him at all.  That’s it!  You made a stream of blood.  You made a stream of blood.

And people distance themselves from him.  You don’t pay attention, but people distance themselves — a stream of blood.

So we need to take the bird and dip it into the blood.  Then, after telling us about all the types of tza’arat in the world, we return again to the story.

However, Nadav and Avihu wanted to be burned.  Nadav and Avihu knew that they would be burned.  It’s written here that they knew that they would be burned, but here really it was forbidden for them to be burned!

It’s was forbidden for them to be burned here, because Moshe and Aharon didn’t consent to this.

The did this without Moshe and Aharon’s consent.  Then they came again as Eliyahu HaNavi, but that they merited to come in ibur [spiritual concealment] in Eliyahu HaNavi and bring down fire from the heavens.

This fire had needed now to descend, but they didn’t succeed in bringing it down.  Aharon brought it down.

Specifically Aharon brought it down.  After Aharon made the calf, he brought this fire down.  But they merited to come inside Eliyahu HaNavi and to bring down fire from the heavens.

And this is the revelation of the Divine Presence which we speak about on Seder night.

That we should merit to the revelation of the Divine Presence and the building of the Holy Temple speedily in our days, Amen.
