A Lesson for the Residents of Bat Yam at the Home of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi

On Monday night, the eve of the 7th of Teves, a group of students of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, from the city of Bat Yam entered his holy residence. The Rav delivered a lesson to the group for about forty minutes, in which he strengthened them, awakened them, and renewed them with words of the Living G-d. Below are some of the topics and teachings that The Rav shared during the lesson:

For most of the lesson, The Rav shlit"a spoke about Rivkah the righteous, and about how she performed kindness even for someone she did not know—offering him something to drink, and even his camels. The Rav said that we must learn from here that whenever someone asks for a cup of water, we should give two cups. Afterward, The Rav spoke about Parshas Vayigash and brought the question cited in the sefer “Ma’ayanah Shel Torah”: Why does Yosef speak with Pharaoh about good or bad ears of grain, if on Pesach we are judged regarding grain? He brought the answer that Rosh Hashanah is when a person is judged regarding being elevated to greatness, and this is what Yosef meant by the matter of the ears of grain—that it was not about the grain itself, but about elevating a person to greatness: “Let him seek out a discerning and wise man.”
