Inside the Lust, No Rebuke Will Help

The Daily Strengthening – One Shouldn't Follow the Path of "A Torch of Contempt for the Thoughts"

Wednesday, 7th of Iyar, 5784

In the year 6093 (from the creation of the world; today we are in the year 5784), the world will already be completely new; Hashem will renew the world.

There will be a new world. Twice the world was renewed: once in the days of the Flood, because when Noah left the Ark, the world was new. He saw everyone dead and said, "Master of the World, why are they all dead?" (Zohar, Hashmatos page 254b).

The Zohar says: Noah, but you should have said this before! You should have said it earlier!

"A torch of contempt for the thoughts" (Job 12:5)—Noah indeed used to rebuke them, but with words as harsh as torches. He did rebuke his generation (Yalkut Shimoni, Job Chapter 12). Although it says "a torch of contempt for the thoughts," one shouldn't follow the path of "a torch of contempt for the thoughts." One needs to play music, to sing. One needs to make parties for them, Melaveh Malkah (the meal following the conclusion of Shabbat), make Shabbat meals for them, Friday night, sit with them until the morning, and make Tishen (Chassidic gatherings) for them.

People shouldn't be brought closer through rebukes—when a person is inside the ta'avah (lust/desire), no rebuke will help him, only when he is outside of the ta'avah.

When he is inside the ta'avah, no rebuke will help him. When he is inside the ta'avah, no rebuke helps.
