When a Breslov Chassid Reaches the Heavens

Rabbi Yehoshua Dov Rubinstein shlit"a shares wonderful holy words that he heard from Rabbi Rosenfeld regarding the evil of machloket (strife).

"After we have mentioned and spoken about Rabbi Rosenfeld, I must share a vort (insight) that I heard from him, words that are relevant for all generations, and especially for our own generation."

"In every generation, there have been disputes over this and that, where everyone thought they were acting only for the sake of Heaven, that they were saving the world and our Rebbe. Rabbi Rosenfeld once said a very sharp vort about this: A Breslov Chassid will arrive in the World to Come after his 120 years. They will ask him, 'My dear Jew, were you a Breslov Chassid?' He will open his eyes wide and ask, 'What is this, the World of Truth? All these years I prayed in Breslov, all these years I studied the books of our Rebbe, Uman, hitbodedut (secluded prayer), the fields, what didn't I do? And now you ask me if I was a Breslov Chassid!'"

"They will answer him, 'All honor to you for everything you fulfilled, but who can guarantee that if you had been alive in the time of Rebbe Nachman and Reb Noson, you would not have been among the dissenters and opponents?' To this, he has no answer."

"The answer and the proof for this, said Rabbi Rosenfeld, is that you never participated in a dispute. If you did not argue with Anash (members of our community) in our generation, it is a clear sign that you would not have argued with Reb Noson or our Rebbe. But, if you are arguing today with Anash, who says you wouldn't have argued then?! This is an amazing and simple thing."

"One can learn from this that at the very least, one should sit quietly. What does it have to do with you? Is someone forcing you to get involved? Sit quietly where you are. Do not go to save the world and our Rebbe. Everyone suddenly wants to save our Rebbe."
