shlit"a

"Bar Yochai, oil of holy anointing"
"It is a tradition among our Anash (members of our community) in the Holy Land: anyone in need of salvation, a great segulah (spiritual remedy) to be saved is to donate Chai Rotel of drink at the gravesite of the divine Tanna, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, may his merit protect us and may he cause them to be blessed with children and salvation quickly" (Ta'amei HaMinhagim).
A letter written by our teacher, the Gaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, speaking of the importance of participating in the donation of Chai Rotel at the site of the divine Tanna, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.
"On the day of Lag B'Omer 5779 and the coming of Mashiach 779, it is an obligation upon every boy and girl, old man and old woman, to raise their contribution for Meron, where hundreds of thousands of people will be. The expenses reach hundreds of thousands of dollars, and therefore, every boy and girl, old man and old woman must raise their contribution of at least 180 NIS."
"And whoever adds, it is added to them to raise the contribution of Hashem to exalt the house of our G-d, and through this, each and every one will merit to see the coming of Yinnon and the building of our Holy Temple - a Holy Temple of fire. All donations must be transferred through 'Ka'ayil Ta'arog,' and through this, we will merit to see the building of the Holy Temple of fire speedily in our days."
Amen, Netzach, Selah, Va'ed.
With the blessing of the holy and pure Torah,
Eliezer Berland
