The Full Interview
"Good week, Barak."
"A good and blessed week."
"Tell us of your miracles and wonders through the kindness of Hashem, share with us, the people of Israel, to say a big thank you to Hashem."
"Baruch Hashem, may His name be praised forever. First, a thousand times thank you to Hashem; how many times we recited 'Mizmor LeTodah' (Psalm 100)."
"Many people prayed for us for 25 years. Every day I met people who told me: 'We recited Tehillim for you, and prayers and hitbodedut - what didn't we do?' Many people prayed for us for 25 years; every day I met people who told me: 'We recited Tehillim for you, and prayers and hitbodedut - what didn't we do?'"
"Now I identify with all the people, as I was on the other side without children. So many disappointments and expectations, so many prayers, and how much you already despair. There is no segulah we didn't do, and no place we didn't visit; so many commitments, what didn't we do! But, Baruch Hashem - in the end, you see that there is no despair in the world at all!"
"As much as a person persists, Baruch Hashem, we also adopted a child, such a tzaddik, and I am sure he opened this whole path for us."
"Where do you live, Barak?"
"I live in Holon."
"How old is the child you adopted?"
"He was 10, now he is 14 and a half."
"Four and a half years have done their part through the kindness of Hashem, with the prayers... and you are here publicizing this wonderful miracle."
"Do you know to what to attribute the miracle, besides the prayers?"
"Look, I will tell you, there were many who prayed for us. Baruch Hashem, we also went through a year and a half that was not easy, with all sorts of tribulations we endured. I am sure it is also in the merit of the child, and every Shabbat I made sure to sing 'Zera Chaya VeKaima' (viable offspring). Whoever knows the Nusach Sefard prayer, it appears there, and every Shabbat we would sing it."
"About a year and a half to two years ago, Rabbi Eliezer Berland told me: 'I see there is nothing left to do, I must go. In another half a year I will enter prison, and in the merit of that, you will have children.' Truly, there were so many things that it is impossible to count them: how many commitments we made to tzedakah and to seudot at the graves of tzaddikim, how many treatments."
"We named him Yosef Binyamin after Yosef the Tzaddik, to whom we are very connected because my brother was injured in a terror attack there, and Binyamin is my father's name, and we had in mind Binyamin the Tzaddik. Both are the sons of Rachel Imeinu, to whom my wife lit a candle regularly throughout the entire pregnancy. In her merit, she had a truly easy pregnancy. Many prayed for us at the tomb of Rachel Imeinu; this is truly a child of the people of Israel."
"May it be fulfilled in you: 'May Hashem add another son to you.'"
"Amen. Everyone who needs it, everyone who prays, should know that there is no such thing as despair. Even though they told me many times, the doctors told me there is no chance you will have a child, and they only cause despair; all the time they try to make you despair, but Baruch Hashem, it happened."
"An avrech once came to the Steipler zt"l for 5 years, and the Steipler told him to return to him. Finally, he said to him, 'Kavod HaRav, I have been praying for 7 years, should I continue to pray?'"
"He answered him, 'There is a prayer that is answered after a year or two, there are those after 10 years, there are prayers that are answered after 15 years.' He said this and said no more. The avrech continued to pray. Exactly 15 years later, a son was born to him, and he understood the words of the Steipler in retrospect. And you held on for 25 years, your sign is 'Koh' - 'Thus (Koh) you shall bless the children of Israel,' just as you say, a child of the people of Israel."
"We rejoice in your joy and thank Asaf Shefer for sharing this great and wonderful miracle with us. Barak Barver, a big Mazal Tov, and may you raise him with much nachat, Amen, may it be His will."
"I wish everyone, everyone who needs it, that this year, in the merit of this baby, it will open up for everyone, and everyone will be blessed with children, and be healed, and find their shidduch, with the help of Hashem."
"Amen."
"Hashem should protect you, good week."
