A Handful of Bnei Torah Defeated the Strongest Empire in the World • Prayer for the Molad of the Month of Kislev from the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

The Molad of the month of Kislev will be tomorrow, Monday morning, at 6:56 and 2 chalakim. Rosh Chodesh Kislev will be on the coming Tuesday—may it come upon us and upon all of Am Yisrael for goodness and blessing.

Before you is a prayer that the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a wrote for the Molad of the month of Kislev, 5784:

Master of the World, as the Molad of Kislev enters in its full strength—on Monday morning at 6:56, 2 chalakim—at that moment all the gates of Shachak are opened, and all fifty gates of Binah, and all thirty-two pathways of Chochmah. Open for me a gate at the time when the gate is being closed, and let me then merit all the gates of Chochmah, Binah, and Daas. And perform for me then miracles and wonders, just as You did with Mattisyahu and his sons—when You opened for them, in the month of Kislev, all the gates of miracles and wonders, and all the gates of victory over all the nations of the world, and over the strongest and most fortified empire in the world, which ruled the entire world for 180 years [Avodah Zarah 9].

And now this is studied throughout the entire world: how a handful of the few defeated all the armies of Greece—despite all their new weaponry, their battering rams—and all of them were trained from the age of three. In this way they conquered the entire world that was known until then. Yet a handful of Bnei Torah—the sons of Mattisyahu the Kohen Gadol—fulfilled the verse: “He smites the loins of those who rise against him, and his enemies shall not rise again” [Devarim, V’Zos HaBerachah 33:11]. For Yaakov and Moshe already prayed for the tribe of Levi, that it would always be victorious and always subdue its enemies. And this is what the Rambam says at the end of Hilchos Shemitah V’Yovel: that anyone whose heart lifts him to learn Torah, and to cast off the yoke of thoughts and worries that burden each and every person, and he decides to learn Torah day and night = 177—behold, he is counted among the army of Hashem. And Hashem will merit him with all the victories in the world; and Hashem will always go before him and before all the members of his household; and he will always be victorious in every battle. And all of this begins with the Molad of the month of Kislev, which is the most important Molad of all twelve Molados.
