A Historic and Emotional Meeting Between Rav Berland shlit"a and R' David
Abuchatzeira in Nahariya

A historic meeting took place between the tzaddik, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, and the Admor R' David Abuchatzeira shlit"a at his holy residence in Nahariya. The great love that exists between these two tzaddikim, who are foundations of the world, is well known, and on various occasions they have spoken words of praise for one another, yet until now they had never met. It is known that the two were very much looking forward to meeting and convening together; the event was especially driven by R' David's desire to express to Rav Berland how much he appreciates him and how much he loves him.

R' David Abuchatzeira shlit"a treated Rav Berland shlit"a with great honor; he actually paused his public reception for fifteen minutes, during which he remained only with the Rav. As is known, few, if any, have merited for R' David to stop his public reception for them. Immediately upon exiting this meeting, these two holy seraphim shared that they had studied together words of Torah that stand at the pinnacle of the world. R' David added and requested that Rav Berland enter his study hall and learn for the sake of the souls of his ancestors.

Afterwards, R' David brought the gabbaim of Rav Berland into a special meeting in his residence, where he continued to speak in praise of the stature of Rav Berland shlit"a. "He is entirely Torah; we have merited that a pure man has come to us," R' David said regarding Rav Berland. And to Rabbi Reichner, the grandson of Rav Berland who sought to give a pidyon (redemption money) to R' David, he said, "I need to give you a pidyon, you are a grandson of holy ones." He also said to Rav Berland's gabbai, R' Natan Besanson, "He who is connected to the pure is pure."
