Every Thursday night, the residents of Ramat Gan merit a lesson from the mashpia, the chassidic Rav R’ Yitzchak Vitzhandler shlit"a. This lesson, which he has been giving for several years, draws many Jews—those who are close to Breslov and to Rebbe Nachman, as well as those who are not yet observant of Torah and mitzvos.
Last night, on the night of the 12th of Adar II, the participants of the regular Ramat Gan lesson entered together with Rabbi Yitzchak Vitzhandler shlit"a for a special lesson of close to an hour, further inside the holy place.
In the lesson, The Rav shlit"a spoke about several topics, including the preciousness of the holy days of Purim and the story of the Megillah, guarding one’s eyes, and regarding shalom bayis—where he especially expanded with words about self-nullification toward one’s wife.
“The gematria of the words ‘a pillar of cloud, a pillar of fire’ (711) is equal to the word ‘my wife’ (711). A person must know that his wife is a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire.” From the fiery holy words of The Rav Rabbi Berland shlit"a in the lesson.
After a lesson of more than forty-five minutes, The Rav shlit"a concluded the lesson with the singing of ‘Vatossef Esther…’. Then the chassidic Rav R’ Yitzchak Vitzhandler began speaking with The Rav shlit"a about the fact that today is the yahrtzeit of the chassidic Rav R’ Shmuel Horowitz zt"l, one of the great devoted servants in Breslov, along with additional memories and majestic stories about the great ones of Breslov in the previous generation—ten minutes that were truly fascinating. At the end, The Rav shlit"a told the story of how he drew close on Purim.
Afterwards, the participants went out strengthened, with a flame of fire, to the courtyard of the prayer hall for Ma’ariv together with The Rav Rabbi Berland shlit"a.
