Every Thursday night, the residents of Ramat Gan are privileged to attend a lesson given by the Mashpia, the esteemed Rabbi Yitzchak Weitzhandler shlit"a. This lesson, which has been held for several years, draws many Jews—from those who are close to Breslov and our Rebbe, to those who do not yet observe Torah and mitzvot.
Last night, on the night of the 12th of Adar II, the participants of the regular lesson in Ramat Gan, together with Rabbi Yitzchak Weitzhandler shlit"a, entered for a special lesson lasting nearly an hour in the inner sanctum.
In the lesson, our teacher the Rav shlit"a spoke on several topics, including the virtue of the holy days of Purim and the story of the Megillah, guarding one's eyes, and regarding shalom bayit (peace in the home), he elaborated especially on the concept of self-nullification toward one's wife.
"The gematria of the words 'Amud Anan Amud Esh' (Pillar of Cloud, Pillar of Fire - 711) is equal to the word 'Ishti' (my wife - 711). A person must know that his wife is a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire." From the holy, fiery words of our teacher Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a during the lesson.
After a lesson of over forty-five minutes, our teacher the Rav shlit"a concluded the lesson with the singing of 'Vatosaf Esther...'. The esteemed Rabbi Yitzchak Weitzhandler began to speak with our teacher the Rav shlit"a about the fact that today is the Yahrtzeit of the esteemed Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz zatzuk"l, one of the great servants of Hashem in Breslov, and they shared memories and glorious stories of the great ones of Breslov from the previous generation for ten most fascinating minutes. At the conclusion, our teacher the Rav shlit"a told the story of his own drawing close to the path on Purim.
Afterwards, the participants left strengthened with a burning fire toward the prayer hall courtyard for the Maariv prayer together with our teacher Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a.
