A Prayer to Merit Praying with Heartfelt Intention, Singing to Hashem Day and Night, and Reaching the Peak of Humility

A PRAYER BEFORE PRAYING

Master of the Universe, Almighty, grant me the merit to pray from the bottom of my heart, with complete intention, with all my 248 limbs and 365 sinews, and with my entire Nefesh, Ruach, Neshamah, Chayah, and Yechidah (the five levels of the soul). May I always remain at the spiritual level of Adam Kadmon (Primordial Man), the level of Yechidah. May I merit to pray with complete intention, and only see the virtues of my friends, focusing solely on their good points. May I merit to be like Avigail the daughter of Nachash, who tasted the taste of dust in everything and never derived worldly pleasure from anything. All her unifications (marital relations) with her husband were completely devoid of physical pleasure, as if it were mere dust. She only saw miracles and wonders every single second and moment. Her sister's son opened the gates of Rabbat Ammon and cut off all the enemies of Israel. Because she married an Ishmaelite convert, 'Yeter the Ishmaelite,' she merited to have Amasa, who validated King David's lineage. This was in contrast to Doeg the Edomite, who equated a Moabite to an Edomite and an Egyptian, claiming they are all forbidden to enter the congregation until the third generation. But Amasa ben Yeter girded his sword like Yeter and ruled the halachah (Jewish law) in accordance with the prophet Shmuel. At the time when Doeg tried to disqualify David, Amasa declared, 'This is the tradition I received from Shmuel of Ramah: the Torah forbids a Moabite man, but not a Moabite woman! And whoever does not rule this way and validate David will be pierced by the sword.' May I merit to reach the absolute peak of humility in the world, more than any person on the face of the earth. May I never again look at any strange woman or strange girl until the end of my life. May I never stumble in a nocturnal emission, Heaven forbid—not by force, not by mistake, not by negligence, and not intentionally. May it not happen to me as it happened to the student of the Arizal, who saw a pillar of fire but lost his true soulmate because of the sin of stumbling at night. May I be completely clean from all evil thoughts. Every 24 hours, may I complete an entire tractate of Talmud, and may I know Tractate Yevamos by heart, word for word, letter for letter. May I only sing the song of Hashem over the House of Hashem day and night, and may I see the Name of Havayah (the Tetragrammaton) before my eyes 24 hours a day, without stopping for a single moment or second, all the days of my life.
