A Rare Statement by Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Kanfelmacher Regarding Rav Berland and the Controversy ("This Cannot Be True") and the Open Miracle That Saved His Life ("This Cannot Be Denied")

A rare recorded statement by the esteemed chassid Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev Kanfelmacher, one of the prominent Breslov chassidim in Jerusalem, regarding Rav Berland and the controversy. The conversation took place during a thanksgiving meal he held this week with his family to commemorate the miracle that happened to him a few years ago on the holiday of Shavuot when he suffered a severe stroke from which he miraculously recovered. How? You won't believe it.

Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev describes the miracle:

"On the eve of Shavuot, Pinchas (Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev's eldest son) was with me, along with Mordechai's son, Yossi Kanfelmacher. They stayed there (in the hospital) on Shabbat, they made Kiddush, I drank from the wine, and I lost consciousness for two days. And Rabbi Eliezer Berland, whatever was, was, this cannot be denied, Rabbi Leizer Berland came to visit me, he told Pinchas: 'On my shoulder, within twenty-four hours he will rise'. Twenty-four hours passed, Duki Greenwald called you (to Rabbi Pinchas): "Your father has risen."

The son, Rabbi Shimon, who was present: "When he said Tikkun HaKlali, you tried to get up."

Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev: "He said Tikkun HaKlali several times, for a whole hour, I have pictures of it on my computer."

One of those present: What do you say about all the controversy now, there is a severe controversy now, the rabbis have issued a new letter.

Rabbi Binyamin Ze'ev: "To me, this whole matter is a wonder, I don't understand, if it's true how can one learn for ten consecutive hours after that, how, that's one of the questions I have, it cannot be, he can sit and learn for ten consecutive hours, pray the Shemoneh Esrei for several hours, how can it be, it doesn't make sense to me, it cannot be true, it doesn't make sense to me, how can a person have both strengths, how can it be, he can pray the Shemoneh Esrei for three hours and cry like a baby. If everything is true, he wouldn't be able to pray for three hours."
