A Shiur for the Heads of the Shuvu Banim Kollelim Across the Land, at the Home of the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Shuvu Banim Kollelim Across the Land ○ Summary from the Shiur

The revolution of the kollelim that The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, established more than two decades ago is, with siyata d’shmaya, still vibrant and alive. Thousands of avreichim throughout the land sit and toil in their Torah learning, basking in the light of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. Over these avreichim there are close to thirty men of deed—talmidei chachamim—who merited to take upon themselves the leadership and management of the kollelim.

These heads of kollelim from across the land—from the far north all the way to Eilat—merited to enter “into the inner sanctum” on Wednesday night, the night of 25 Shevat, for a strengthening shiur from The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, in his home.

The Rav shlit"a opened the shiur with the theme of “Bo el Paro” (“Come to Pharaoh”), and with the idea that Pharaoh did not want to issue decrees against the Jewish people, along with the various implications of this matter. After that, The Rav shlit"a spoke about Iyov (Job), who asked: Hashem said, “And they will enslave them and afflict them for four hundred years”—so how is this to be understood? He also spoke from the secret of the verse, “And he struck the corners of Moav, and crushed all the children of Sheis,” explaining that through the peyos one merits to subdue all enemies. Afterwards, he spoke about the greatness of a woman, and related that when doctors say there will not be children, then it is certain there will be children—just as it was in his own case. And likewise it was with the daughter of the Leshem—the mother of the posek hador, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt"l. Later in the shiur, The Rav spoke from the weekly parashah—Mishpatim—and asked: Why immediately after the Aseres HaDibros do we find verses that speak about one who strikes or curses his father and mother, and one who kidnaps a man and sells him? He explained with deep understanding that when a person hears a shiur—like the Aseres HaDibros—but does not educate his child, this is called “kidnapping a man and selling him,” and as a result the son ends up cursing and striking his parents. After that, he returned to the subject of Iyov and explained the explicit verses there, adding sweet, flowing words and novel insights. He came back to the question he asked at the beginning: after all, it says, “And they will enslave them and afflict them for four hundred years.” Then he spoke about the concept of Olam HaAkudim, which is rectified through Shacharis. At the conclusion of the shiur, he spoke about the borders of Eretz Yisrael. He asked: In one verse it is explained that the border extends until Ma’aleh Akrabim, while in another verse it says the border extends until the Yam Suf. He said that in the future, when Olam HaAkudim is rectified, they will merit an expansion of the border until the Yam Suf. He also spoke about the greatness of one who immerses in the Kinneret. He concluded by saying that in the future the Yam HaMelach will heal all illnesses, as explained in the holy Zohar. After thirty-five minutes of shiur, The Rav shlit"a recited Kaddish and went out to Maariv with a great multitude.
