A Shiur for the “Mitchabrim” Yeshivah at the Home of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

On Wednesday night, the eve of the 20th of Iyar, the bochurim of the “Mitchabrim” Yeshivah, led by R’ Binyamin Michalav הי"ו, entered for a shiur at the home of the holy gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a.
The Rav began the shiur with the theme of King David’s prayer, “Like the light of morning, the sun will shine forth.” On this verse he expanded on the avodah of prayer at daybreak, and on praying with niggunim. The Rav also spoke in the shiur about the spies who brought out an evil report about the Land. The Rav explained that the spies made a mistake: even though, out of love for Moshe, they said not to enter the Land because of the prophecy that Moshe would die and Yehoshua would bring them in, they erred בכך because they did not nullify themselves to the Tzaddik. If they had truly nullified themselves to Moshe, then Moshe Rabbeinu would have risen to life—because Eretz Yisrael is the “lands of life.” Later in the shiur, the Rav spoke about several additional topics: the secret of the “cleft of the rock,” Eliyahu HaNavi, and Ur Kasdim—how Avraham told Nimrod, “Move the sun just a little,” and because of this Nimrod threw him into the fire. The Rav said that Haran was burned because he was not whole in his self-nullification to the Tzaddik, and that Aharon needed to rectify this through the episode of the Golden Calf—he should have had to give over his life, and not only because they killed Chur. And many more subjects, from all the hidden treasures of the holy Torah. After a shiur of exactly forty minutes, the Rav concluded, and a few minutes later went out to Ma’ariv and Sefiras HaOmer with a great multitude.
