A Shiur for the People of Bat Yam in the Home of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

The people of Bat Yam merited to enter into the inner sanctity ○ A fiery, blazing shiur on the Sefirah of Gevurah sheb’Yesod ○ The shiur continued with in-depth Torah analysis

A group of our dear friends, residents of the city of Bat Yam, merited this evening—on the night of the 23rd of Iyar—to enter for a shiur within the inner sanctity. The Rav shlit"a delivered to the group a fiery, blazing shiur for forty minutes.

At the beginning of the shiur, the Rav shlit"a spoke about the greatness of the Sefirah of Gevurah sheb’Yesod [the shiur began a few minutes before sunset, while it was still the counting of Gevurah sheb’Yesod].

He spoke about how a person must merit the trait of Gevurah every single day—like King David, peace be upon him, who merited to battle lions and bears, as the verse says: “Your servant has struck down both the lion and the bear” (I Samuel 17:36).

After that, he discussed a question raised by the Ketzos HaChoshen in siman 61 (se’if 4, se’if katan 3): How did David betroth Merav through killing Golyas—when that act is worth less than a perutah? He answered in accordance with the responsum of the Maharit: since Shaul promised whoever would kill Golyas great wealth, it was with that promised wealth that David betrothed Merav—through that loan. Afterward, he continued speaking with deep halachic analysis on additional topics in this siman and what branches out from it.

After forty minutes, the Rav shlit"a instructed one of the participants to recite the Kaddish that is said after the shiur, and the group went out to Ma’ariv together with the Rav shlit"a.
