A Shiur for the Residents of Tzfat at the Home of the Gaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Shuvu Banim in the City of Tzfat ○ Highlights from the Shiur
Even in the holy city of Tzfat there are families from our holy community—students of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. According to one of the city’s residents, there are close to sixty families—some from our holy community, and some who merited to draw close דווקא during the recent years of persecution.
Some of the group merited to make the long journey from distant Tzfat all the way to Jerusalem, the holy city, to hear words of the Living G-d—at a special shiur for the residents of Tzfat, held in the home of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, this past Wednesday night, the eve of 14 Kislev.
The Rav opened the shiur with the subject of Chanah and her seven sons. Rabbi Yonasan Eibshitz writes that the seven sons correspond to the seven constellations שצ"ם חנכ"ל. From there, he expanded at greater length on matters of Chanukah. Later in the shiur, he encouraged the residents of Tzfat to come to Meron, and spoke at length about how in earlier times people would go up to Meron on horses and donkeys. In this context, he also told in detail the story of how Rabbi Yisrael Dov Odesser drew close through Rabbi Yisrael Kardoner. After that, The Rav shlit"a shared a bit of his own story of strengthening himself in his youth—how he entered yeshivah—and he emphasized the importance of learning Gemara.
After about fifty minutes of a fiery, flame-like shiur—full and overflowing with encouragement, and with stories of drawing close and strengthening oneself in Emunah, while weaving in passages from all the treasured sefarim of the holy Torah—The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, concluded the shiur. He blessed the residents of Tzfat with every blessing, and then went out to Ma’ariv with a great crowd, as on every evening, from the balcony of his home.
