A collection of wondrous stories about the power of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, starting from the smashing of an impure device in the dead of night without disturbance, to precise Divine Providence in the distribution of holy pages.
A Wondrous Story: Smashing the iPhone in the Dead of Night and Wondrous Divine Providence
An important young man among the students of the tzaddik shlit"a tells a wondrous story that occurred recently. The Rav shlit"a arrived at their location, and a public reception was held there in the late hours of the night. During the reception, a man arrived holding an iPhone device. That man received a sudden awakening to disconnect from impurity, and decided to hand the device over to the hands of Rabbi Berland shlit"a.
Immediately, a hammer was brought to the scene. The tzaddik took the hammer and smashed the device with several strong blows, which created a loud noise. The young man who related the incident noted the great wonder that occurred in those moments. "We have a neighbor who lives in the apartment below, and every slight movement in the middle of the night bothers him," he explained. "Even if we just move a chair, he already sends a messenger to ask why we are making noise."
In light of this, after the tremendous blows that smashed the iPhone, those present were certain that a great protest would immediately erupt from the neighbor. But wondrously, no sound was heard and there was no response. The tzaddik cast a deep sleep upon them, and they heard nothing.
Eight Hours of Emunah (Faith) and Stories of Tzaddikim
A large public merited to experience an awesome event of the revelation of Hashem this week, during the regular gathering at the "Nachalei Netzach" Yeshiva in Mea Shearim. With the help of Hashem, Jews from among the students of the tzaddik gather there every Thursday night, arriving from all corners of the Holy Land. Each one in turn tells wondrous stories about what happened to him from the wonders of the tzaddik.
This causes a tremendous Kiddush Hashem (sanctification of God's Name). One can tangibly see that there is a Master to the palace, and the world is not a lawless place. There is a Creator who oversees every single detail with Divine Providence, performing miracles and wonders at every moment through His faithful servants, in the aspect of "A tzaddik rules through the fear of God".
This week, one of the prominent students of the tzaddik arrived at the gathering and told the story of his drawing close, which occurred about seventeen years ago. It is an awesome story full of details, describing how Hashem revealed the true tzaddik to him. He searched with all his might, and did not allow himself to become confused by the counsel of the Baal Davar (the Evil Inclination) who wanted so badly to distance him.
Those present sat and told stories of the tzaddik for eight hours and ten minutes consecutively! They continued doing so until the time for the morning Krias Shema arrived, and then the news came that the tzaddik was already arriving.
Anyone who has a heart of flesh must be shaken by the revelation we merit in our generation. In a generation where darkness covers the earth and a flood of heresy washes over with fury, Jews sit and taste the flavor of Gan Eden (Paradise). They experience the sweetness of the holy emunah (faith) that there is none besides Him, and feel how the vanities of this world are nothing but a false illusion. There is no doubt that this is a sign of the approaching Geulah (Redemption), as Rebbe Nachman said: "My fire will burn until the coming of Mashiach."
Divine Providence Among Thousands of Pages
As is known, the tzaddik distributes many prayers. Every week, during Kabbalas Shabbos (welcoming the Sabbath), about eight new prayers are distributed. Their writing is a wondrous marvel and a novelty that has never existed in the world. The tzaddik writes thousands and tens of thousands of prayers without pause, with awesome depth and an indescribable Godly power.
These prayers truly constitute the healing of the generation from its severe illnesses. Through them, the tzaddik heals many thirsty and yearning souls, as well as those suffering from the torments of the evil inclination and its desires. Each and every prayer touches upon the smallest details of a person's life: Torah study, holiness, guarding one's eyes, humility, and lowliness.
Additionally, the prayers bring about salvations, complete healing, shidduchim (marriage matches), viable offspring, and parnassah (livelihood), all interwoven with an abundance of gematrios (numerical values). We have no comprehension from which hidden and concealed worlds the Tzaddik Yesod Olam draws down this abundance to the Jewish people.
A dear avreich (Torah scholar) from among the students of the tzaddik relates that he lost a specific prayer that he deeply yearned to obtain. Finding a specific prayer out of many thousands is an almost impossible task.
And behold, suddenly he sees the tzaddik taking a prayer from a person standing next to him, and giving him another prayer in its place. Afterward, The Rav shlit"a turned to that avreich and handed him the prayer he had taken. To the absolute astonishment of the avreich, it turned out that this was exactly the prayer he had been searching for so desperately!
A Wondrous Story: The Three Fractures in the Child's Face Disappeared as if They Never Existed
About two months ago, during one of the holy journeys of Rabbi Berland shlit"a, a very severe car accident occurred. A vehicle coming from the opposite direction collided with the front of the vehicle in which the close followers were traveling, in what is defined as a severe frontal collision, may Hashem protect us. The rescue forces who arrived at the scene were shocked by the difficult sight. After seeing and hearing how the accident unfolded, they said that according to the laws of nature, nothing should have remained of the vehicle, Heaven forbid. Despite this, thank God, everyone emerged from the accident through miraculous miracles, and immediately the next morning they already recited the "HaGomel" blessing (blessing of thanksgiving).
The Difficult Diagnosis and the Surprising Instruction
One of the children who was in the vehicle received severe blows to the facial area. The rescue teams who examined him in the field determined that there were three fractures under his mouth, and ordered him to be urgently transported to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. The child's father hurried to call Morinu HaRav shlit"a to mention his name for a yeshuah (salvation). Initially, the Rav shlit"a approved the trip to Haifa, since Rambam Hospital was closer to the site of the accident than the hospitals in the holy city of Jerusalem.
However, when they arrived at the hospital in Haifa, a wondrous thing occurred. Suddenly, a phone call was received with a new instruction from the Rav shlit"a: "Return immediately to Jerusalem." The doctors at Rambam did not understand the reasoning behind the decision to leave, but since the child's condition was defined as severe, he was transported by ambulance directly to Hadassah Hospital in the holy city of Jerusalem. Upon their arrival, the child was immediately brought into the treatment room without waiting in line, due to his dangerous condition.
"Either I am crazy or they are crazy"
A specialist doctor approached the child and began to examine him thoroughly, searching for the severe fractures on his cheeks. Afterwards, he turned to look at the disc of X-rays sent by the rescue personnel from the field, which clearly showed the existence of the fractures. The father, who stood nearby the entire time, related that he saw how the doctor stared at the disc for a long time, his face filled with immense astonishment.
The doctor looked again and again at the screen, and finally began talking to himself out loud: "Either I am crazy, or they are crazy! There is no fracture here, everything is fine, and I don't know what they want." Instead of complex surgeries and treatments, the medical team placed a small bandage on the superficial wound, and the child was sent home safe and sound. Thus, in the merit of the power of the tzaddik, the fractures disappeared as if they had never been, and the family merited to see an open yeshuah (salvation) above the laws of nature.
