All the Details About the Holy Gathering of Rosh Hashanah Near Rav Berland
Drawing the Light of Uman to Tzalmon

Thursday, 28th of Elul, 5780 - 222 days since the arrest of the tzaddik.
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus restrictions, the vast majority of Breslov Chassidim will not be able to reach Uman for the upcoming Rosh Hashanah and will be forced to remain in the Holy Land.
Like all other Breslov communities in Israel and around the world, the 'Shuvu Banim' community is preparing for Rosh Hashanah prayers in the Holy Land, while maintaining a connection to all of our fellow Chassidim and, most importantly, to the soil of the holy gravesite in Uman.
The central Kibbutz of our community will be held in the prayer hall on Ido HaNavi Street in Jerusalem with the participation of the community's greatest mashpi'im (spiritual mentors), but by the grace of Hashem, the path has been paved for an additional Kibbutz opposite Tzalmon Prison, in close proximity to our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a.
Below are several important updates for the benefit of the public who wish to arrive and participate in the Kibbutz at Tzalmon:
- Following consultation with the Rav's legal team, the release process for our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a, will only conclude after Rosh Hashanah; therefore, the most likely scenario is that the Rav will remain in Tzalmon Prison during the days of Rosh Hashanah as well.
- After receiving approval from the Israel Police for the protest activity opposite the prison and moving the Kibbutz to an isolated field outside the prison grounds, the community committee rabbis, led by Rabbi Tzanani and Rabbi Elmaliah, have also approved the holding of the Kibbutz at Tzalmon and give their blessing to the participants of the Kibbutz and for its success.
- The upcoming activity includes 'Zachor Brit' Selichot on Friday early morning at 4:00 AM and Rosh Hashanah prayers for those remaining.
- After significant investment and in accordance with coronavirus regulations, a complex of tents and towed caravans will be set up in the field opposite the prison for the comfort of those staying during the days of Rosh Hashanah.
- The complex includes:
A massive synagogue in an open area consisting of 4 separate tents and a women's section.
500 chairs, 50 tables, lighting, and air conditioning.
A sleeping area in 6 tents with synthetic grass carpets, mattresses, and air conditioning.
Electricity and lighting via a massive generator.
Water for washing and bathing, high-standard portable toilets, and a cooling room.
Basic food (grape juice, mezonot, challah, tuna, hummus, tehina, and vegetables).
- The subsidized participation price list is as follows:
Full basic room and board + chair in the synagogue - 350 NIS ($100).
Lodging + chair in the synagogue - 300 NIS.
Chair in the synagogue - 100 NIS.
Electricity connection for a caravan - 300 NIS.
- Shuttles will depart from Shivtei Yisrael Street on Thursday night at 12:00 AM for the 'Zachor Brit' Selichot in Tzalmon for a price of 100 NIS, with a return trip after Shacharit prayer and travel to the Tikkun HaKlali at the gravesite of the Rashbi in Meron - it is possible to stay in Tzalmon on Friday and return after the holiday.
- Due to coronavirus restrictions for bus passengers, those traveling back to Jerusalem after the holiday will pay an additional 50 NIS for the return trip.
- For those returning after the holiday and those renting towed caravans, a special permit from a lawyer must be provided to allow travel home under lockdown conditions. The permit is family-specific or specific to each caravan at a price of 50 NIS, and this must be coordinated with me via my personal mobile: 0533-155-313.
- Due to the lockdown restrictions during the holiday, it is not legally possible to rent guest houses (tzimmers) in Kallanit; therefore, the preferred option is to rent a towed caravan that will be placed in the complex and connected to electricity and water, or to rent a space in the tent sleeping complex.
- One must obey the instructions of the organizers, and one must not approach the prison complex under any circumstances.
- One must organize independently with personal equipment for sleeping, prayer books (machzorim), holiday symbols, and festive meals.
- Anyone interested in further information or in donating to participate in the expenses of the Kibbutz at Tzalmon is invited to contact me via the aforementioned personal mobile.
Many thanks to all those working for the Tzalmon Kibbutz 5781, and a good year of redemption and Geulah for all our fellow Chassidim.
