"And They Shall Blossom Out of the City Like Grass of the Field" • The Daily

Before you is a summary from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Wednesday night, the first night of Rosh Chodesh Shevat, Parshat Bo:

So everyone should read the Ramban on Parshat Bo. The Rebbe [Rebbe Nachman] says that everything is achieved through niggunim (melodies) and the Challal HaPanui (the Vacant Space). Only through niggunim is it possible to bring everyone back in teshuvah (repentance). Now we have almost three hours until Chatzos (the midnight prayer); it is possible to finish the entire Ramban and four pages of Gemara (Talmud), and the girls will finish Tehillim (Psalms), Joshua, and Judges. The girls need to study mathematics and know Joshua and Judges, until Chatzos at 23:32. A girl has a mind a million times greater than a boy; the girl is the Chochmah (wisdom) of Ban [a Kabbalistic name of Hashem associated with the feminine] and the boy is in Binah (understanding). The boy puts everything into gambling; everything turns into a big zero for him. But the girl needs to protect the boy, because the boys believed Korach when he said that Moshe (Moses) was just a fraud, a sorcerer, a magician. They said to him, "We used to get fish for free." Fish for free? They got blows for free! Rather, when they would bend down to draw water, tuna fish would jump into the jug. The women would swell [with pregnancy], and the Egyptians would say it was a disease. There were three types of miracles: 1. That they would be swallowed into the ground [to hide from the Egyptians], 2. Angels came and would transport them across the Nile, "And you came with ornaments of ornaments"—they arrived in flocks upon flocks, "And they shall blossom out of the city like grass of the field." 3. They were placed into the wall [as bricks], so they would pray, "The snare is broken and we have escaped." The Rebbe says that the entire Geulah (Redemption) is only in the merit of the women, for they pray as the Rebbe brings in section 37 [of Likutey Moharan].
