On Thursday night, the eve of the 30th of Nissan—Rosh Chodesh Iyar—after the Ma’ariv prayer, The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, left his home, Neveh Kodesh, and made his way to the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the new building of the ‘Tiferes Tzvi’ synagogue, on Chabad Street 5 in the city of Beitar Illit.

The Breslov synagogue ‘Tiferes Tzvi’ is named for The Rav’s father-in-law, the chassid Rabbi Tzvi Zutulovsky zt"l, and the father of the synagogue’s rabbi—The Rav’s son, Rabbi Nachman Berland shlit"a.

The Rav shlit"a arrived at the event close to eleven o’clock at night. He placed mortar on the concrete pour at the spot where the Aron Kodesh is meant to stand, and as he did so, The Rav said, “In honor of Rebbe Nachman.” After laying the cornerstone, while still standing beside the place of the Aron Kodesh, The Rav delivered a brief talk about the importance of establishing a Breslov synagogue in the city. He said that through this, all of Beitar Illit will become students of Rebbe Nachman. Afterward, he returned to his vehicle and departed, with a royal convoy escorting his car all the way back to his home, Neveh Kodesh.
