Awe-Inspiring Prayers About the War, Written by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Before His Imprisonment

The holy Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, foresaw through awe-inspiring prayers the difficult period in which the Jewish People—and the world—now find themselves

Before our teacher, the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, accepted upon himself the decree of imprisonment and took upon himself the humiliations and suffering, The Rav shlit"a composed four awe-inspiring prayers.

When we return to contemplate and recite these prayers, we see that our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a foresaw with his Ruach HaKodesh what was destined to befall the world—and the Jewish People within it. The Rav shlit"a, who saw the harsh decrees that were about to arrive with great force, entered prison in order to push off and nullify the evil of the decree.

These holy prayers address the painful matters now striking the world:

1. “To merit to be saved from the jealousy of the nations of the world, and that they should never interfere with us.” 2. The wars that are intensifying throughout the world, and the path to be saved from them—“Save me and deliver me from the war of Gog and Magog that is stirring and coming upon the world.” 3. The antisemitism that will continue to grow stronger in the world, and the path to be saved from it—“And in the merit that they do not succeed, and we stand firm in the test, and accept everything with love—in that merit Moshiach will come.”

4. An additional prayer of our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a, which foresaw the wars stirring in the world and does not appear in the download file below—the Aliyah to Eretz Yisrael that is growing stronger in the shadow of these events—“Master of the world, Almighty, merit me to ascend to Eretz Yisrael with exalted mesirus nefesh.”

To merit to be saved from the jealousy of the nations of the world, so that they will never interfere with us; and that all who oppress us will disappear from the world; and that we will recognize only the holy life of Torah and prayer

To be saved from the jealousy of the nations of the world against us

Master of the world, Almighty: merit me to be saved from the hatred of the nations of the world—from them, from their jealousy, and from all their multitudes. Let them never be able to harm us, ever, until Moshiach ben David = 435 comes and redeems us from them, and leads us on the path of truth. And may we be able to learn Torah by day 96 and by night 81 = 177 without a break of even one second; and may we not be distracted from the holy Torah even for a single moment. Let all who oppress us disappear from the world, and let us enter into a good life—a life of blessing, a life of Torah, a life of prayer—and may we recognize nothing besides the Torah.

To merit to be saved from the war of Gog and Magog that is stirring to come upon the world—by being careful with the three Shabbos meals and the three daily prayers, with all the melodies, in tremendous deveikus—and to merit sons, males, from the lineage of Tarshishim

To be saved from the war of Gog and Magog

Master of the world, Almighty: save me and deliver me from the war of Gog and Magog that is stirring and coming upon the world. Merit me to be among those who uphold the three meals of holy Shabbos, with all the zemiros and melodies, with tremendous deveikus and tremendous joy—and through this we will be saved from the war of Gog and Magog. And also, in all three prayers of every single day, may we sing and make melody with great clarity and tremendous deveikus. Let no prayer or letter leave our mouths without awesome kavanah and tremendous deveikus—so that we do not say it without yirah and ahavah, and ahavah and yirah—rather, with tremendous deveikus 24 hours a day, every word and letter that comes from our mouths. Let everything be only tremendous deveikus, with great fear and awe, and with tremendous joy. And through this, may we merit complete teshuvah from love, as it is said: “And a Redeemer shall come 9 to Zion 186 and to those who return 348 from transgression 450 in Jacob 184 —says 97 Hashem” 26 = 1340. And may we merit sons, males, from—lineage 80 Tarshishim 1260 = 1340; and may we raise them to Torah study without any difficulty. May they always rise at three in the morning to learn Torah, and to pray word by word with kavanah. And through this, may the verse be fulfilled in me: “And I will bring them to My holy mountain, and I will gladden them in My House 420 of prayer” 920 =

The prayer: To merit to be saved from antisemitism and the hatred of the nations in the world; and that we should only do good with them and bring them close to Hashem; and that we should merit to stand through all the tests before us, of those who want to destroy us; and we will accept everything with love; and we will merit the revelation of Moshiach ben David

To be saved from antisemitism

Master of the world, Almighty, for Whom no plan is impossible: as long as we are in the exile among the nations, save us from antisemitism and the hatred of the nations. And let us do only good with them, and through this bring them close to His blessed service, by day 96 and by night 87 = 177. And they will learn Torah by day 96 and by night 81 = 177. And through this, we will enter with our bodies into Gan 53 Eden 124 = 177. As the Gemara says in Pesachim 87: A certain priest asked Rabbi Chanina: What do we think about for 24 hours? He answered him: For 24 hours you only think about how to eliminate all the Jews. The priest said to him: I swear by the army of Rome, with this we begin the day and with this we end the day—this is all our thoughts and reflections, our aspiration and our hope: to be rid of this people in the blink 305 of an eye 130 = 435. And in the merit that they do not succeed, and we stand firm in the test, and accept everything with love—in that merit Moshiach 358 ben 52 David 24 = 435 will come, in the blink 305 of an eye 130 = 435.

An additional prayer of our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a, which foresaw the wars stirring in the world and does not appear in the download file below

To merit to ascend to Eretz Yisrael and not be harmed by it in any way; and to sell everything for full value; and to merit to leave the impurity of the lands of the nations where we have become entrenched; and to break all obstacles—for they are all, primarily, obstacles of the mind

To ascend to Eretz Yisrael

Master of the world, Almighty: merit me to ascend to Eretz Yisrael with exalted mesirus nefesh. I will leave all my assets and all my possessions that I have in the Diaspora, and I will leave nothing of it behind, and I will leave no trace of it—only I will sell everything with the greatest speed, for full value. And I will not lose even a single penny because I am ascending to Eretz Yisrael, and I will not be harmed by any damage through the Aliyah to Eretz Yisrael. For we no longer have the strength to remain in the exile of the Diaspora even for one more second, because we want to ascend to the land of our fathers that You gave to our fathers—to Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov—“a land flowing with milk and honey.” For Eretz Yisrael is holier than all the lands of the world, and in it Hashem your G-d chose from all the treasures of the world. Please, Hashem, merit me to ascend to Eretz Yisrael with mesirus nefesh, and bring us to Your holy mountain. For the strength to endure remaining in the Diaspora has already failed; and on the other hand, we have already become entrenched here in the Diaspora in the impurity of the lands of the nations, and we do not know how to free ourselves from it. And now we turn to You with kneeling and prostration—help us, Hashem our G-d, to come to Eretz Yisrael in the blink of an eye. And help us break all the obstacles and all the delays, for the main obstacle is in the mind.
