By What Merit Was Serach bas Asher Saved from Yaakov Avinu’s Strict Judgment? • The Daily Lesson from the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Here is the complete daily lesson as delivered by The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, on Tuesday night, the eve of the 20th of Elul, Parshas Nitzavim–Vayeilech, after the Ma’ariv prayer:
“Serach bas Asher—she would only dance all day—came to Yaakov Avinu with dancing, and in this way Yaakov Avinu did not kill her. Because whoever would say ‘Yosef is alive’ would immediately have to die [from Yaakov’s strict judgment over the fact that the brothers sold Yosef; but Serach bas Asher gave over her life and told Yaakov through song:] ‘Yosef is still alive, and he is king in Egypt, and he has two sons—Menashe and Ephraim.’ Everyone is registering for Uman even today, because they need to arrange a huge number of flights, and everyone is registering for the tent for Yom Kippur. And they need two thousand places—a tent with two thousand places—therefore everyone needs to register today, or at the very least tomorrow.”
