Here is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv prayer on Tuesday night, the eve of 6th of Kislev 5786, Parshat Vayetze:
1. All the blessing says that Esau was in his root more of a tzaddik than Jacob. Therefore, Isaac told him. The Pri Etz Chaim writes that Esau was on the left side of Jacob.
2. Whatever the wife says, do, because Rebecca told Jacob blessings he will not receive, if you do not enter, I will enter and tell Isaac not to bless this wicked one.
3. And if Esau had done teshuvah, he would have been a thousand times greater than Jacob. Because David was also ruddy but with beautiful eyes. And Esau truly wanted to return in teshuvah before he got married.
4. In every matter, a person needs to consult with his wife because only she sees the truth. Although his neshamah (soul) was high and thus Isaac saw, but Rebecca knew he was wicked.
5. Therefore, Moses drew close the mixed multitude who were sparks from Jacob.
6. And this is why he delayed the Afikoman, therefore Esau lost the blessings.
7. Esau needed to nullify himself to Jacob, he nullified himself to Isaac and cried before him that he wanted a blessing. "Is there only one blessing for you?" The Rebbe of Gur blesses a thousand people in half an hour, but the blessing of the dew of the heavens – the dew of the resurrection of the dead, Jacob had already received.
8. Everyone should study the Rashi on "that his nation with him" where Rashi was revealed to Rebbe Nachman in Rabbi Shmuel who knocked on his grave and revealed to him that the dispute of the brothers was that Joseph said to create the world, and the brothers said not to create, and on this was the dispute of Beit Shammai and Beit Hillel and in the end, all agreed not to create the world because man would sin and only Joseph – the tzaddik said he would guarantee and they should create the world. And the sale to Egypt was the judgment made on him for the guarantee.
9. Everyone should study on Tuesday evening with his wife, the daughters should say Psalms until 23:00 and afterwards say Tikkun Chatzot.
