Donated to the Redemption of Captives and Was Miraculously Saved from a Fatal
Accident - A Chilling Rescue Story

King Solomon says (Proverbs 21:18): "The wicked is a ransom for the tzaddik, and the traitor for the upright."
The Metzudot commentary explains: "If a decree of death was issued against the tzaddik and the decree was annulled, the attribute of justice is not appeased until a wicked person is given as a ransom for his soul." This means that if a decree has been issued against a person, the attribute of justice is not appeased until judgment is carried out upon a person, but a pidyon nefesh (redemption of the soul) sweetens and appeases the judgment.
A story of salvation from a severe head-on collision, which very likely could have resulted, Heaven forbid, in dire consequences.
The harsh conduct of state institutions, directed by the State Attorney's Office and the Prison Service against our teacher, the holy Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, led to a call by the Committee of Rabbis shlit"a to establish an emergency fund for the redemption of captives, the redemption of the tzaddik. The difficult stories regarding the criminal conduct against Rav Berland, despite his advanced age as the oldest prisoner today and his difficult medical condition, have led many to contribute.
This week, stories began to be published about miracles that befell donors who were stirred to participate in the Pidyon Shvuyim campaign. A destitute Lithuanian kollel student from Gateshead, England, recounted that in his situation it was difficult for him to donate, but miraculously he received back more than he donated.
As this story continues to spread, a new testimony has arrived regarding a story of Divine Providence involving another person who donated for the redemption of captives. In his testimony, the man tells of how he was miraculously saved from a severe head-on collision!
This is his story:
"The miracle happened to me just about half an hour ago, after I gave the Pidyon Shvuyim for our teacher Rav Berland today. I finished my hitbodedut and left from the direction of Ramot toward HaChoma HaShlishit Street in Jerusalem. I reached a traffic light at a speed of 90, the light was green in front of me, and I was about to cross the intersection. Suddenly, a vehicle emerged from the opposite lane at a speed of at least 140 km/h. The vehicle passed exactly in front of me, went up onto an island, I didn't even have time to see it. I only saw dust, glass, and plastic shards flying onto my windshield."
"He hit the vehicle next to me and simply threw it off the lane, and then continued toward the opposite direction, the direction of the ascent, while crushing another vehicle on the way. For a moment I froze in place, I got out, and to my astonishment, there wasn't even a scratch on the vehicle. People got out of their cars, looked, and asked if I was okay, while they wondered aloud, 'How did he not hit you?'. I couldn't process that a vehicle passed in front of me at that speed and didn't hit me; it is as if the tzaddik took the vehicle, as it was in the air, and moved it over me. Unbelievable, this is not a hallucination, it happened just half an hour ago - they gave me my life as a gift."
"By the way, throughout the whole week I dreamed about vehicles being hit, I told myself every day: 'Today I will drive more carefully.' I didn't understand what they were hinting to me from Heaven - but, one must understand that a person does not give Pidyon Shvuyim to our teacher Rav Berland, but rather redeems himself. This is not a game, a person must do something for the sake of the tzaddik. Saying the 7 Tikkun HaKlali, a pidyon, prayer for the Rav, a person does not know what has been decreed upon him."
"A person can easily save his own life, after all, if he had hit me in a head-on collision... The perpetrator got out of his car panicked, caught a ride, and fled the scene. Afterward, police arrived and tried to locate him, I have no words to describe what just happened."
"May it be the will that everyone strengthens themselves from this story and gives a pidyon to the tzaddik."
"All the best, may we merit to see many more miracles and wonders."
