[Emergency Fundraiser!!] The Cry of the Poor - Israel, merciful ones, children of merciful ones, listen to the cry of pain of the Chassidic Rabbi, R' Nachman Horowitz

Israel, merciful ones, children of merciful ones (a traditional Jewish description of the nation's character). Standing before us is the Chassidic Rabbi Nachman Horowitz shlit"a (may he live long and good days), grandson of Rabbi Shmuel Horowitz zt"l (of blessed memory), one of the prominent figures of Jerusalem and the great leaders of Breslov. He cries out from the depths of his troubled heart over the fire that broke out in their home. It is forbidden to stand idly by, especially as we stand before the Days of Judgment of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This is an important family that has undergone a difficult trial of a fire in their home, and currently, they have no way to return due to their very strained financial situation. It is truly forbidden to stand by—we must participate in the fundraiser and donate for their return to a normal life. Here are the words of Rabbi Nachman Horowitz shlit"a, appealing for help with a cry to the public.

"We had several fires in the house, and especially the last fire—it was truly through miracles that I came out alive. Simply everything burned: the clothes, the weekday and Shabbos (Sabbath) clothes, everything in the house. Beyond that, I have a problem with my legs and they are swollen (Rabbi Horowitz requires a wheelchair); I haven't slept on a bed for a month already, I sleep on a chair. I am in need of medical treatments, while my entire family is scattered."

"Finally, we took out several loans and exceeded 80,000 shekels, and we began to renovate the house; everything truly needs to be renewed. Yesterday my wife said to me, 'Bring clothes for the children,' my youngest child is walking without shoes. I told my wife, 'Slowly, slowly,' I cried a lot, and my wife cried too. Baruch Hashem (Thank God), we have no complaints; we were saved physically through miracles of miracles."

"Shabbos (Sabbath) is coming and we want to be in the apartment, even though there is still no electricity and it isn't renovated, but we have no way to enter. My wife asks that I buy the needs for the Chag (holiday); I am not exaggerating, Hashem knows what we have gone through. Every penny that is possible will help. My righteous wife, the granddaughter of the great Tzaddik (holy man), Rabbi Shmuel Shapira, one of the prominent figures of Jerusalem, tells me that she accepts everything with love, but we have already been outside our home for a month."

"The family is scattered; the eldest son sleeps at my daughter's house, but from all the pressure, he eventually suffered a nervous breakdown. Baruch Hashem (Thank God), his condition is now stabilizing, but this incident was truly the 'final blow' (the hammer blow) for us. The Rav (Rabbi Berland) strengthened us and was with my son in the hospital, but one could go on and on detailing the suffering we have endured. Anything that reaches us will be a great help."

"We accept everything with love and joy; eventually, we will even make a seudah (festive meal) of thanksgiving. But currently, we are searching among people for Shabbos (Sabbath) garments—we even lack that. The electric company alone wants 9,000 shekels to repair the wiring, not to mention the closets and the rest of the furniture that was burned."

"There is no greater mitzvah (commandment) than helping a family in such a situation, and with Hashem's help, may you merit a Shana Tova (a good year)."
