Every Purim we Rectify and Eradicate Amalek • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Presented before you is a summary of the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days) – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Wednesday night, the 6th of Adar, Parshas Tetzaveh:

Tractate Bava Metzia concludes with the topic of two gardens. Rabbi Naftali Katz zt"l (of blessed memory) is buried in Istanbul under a bridge. He says that the "Upper Gardener" and the "Lower Gardener" refer to the Upper Tzaddik (righteous person) and the Lower Tzaddik, and "Yerek" (greenery/vegetable) refers to the 310 worlds. The word "Vayikra" (And He called) is "Yerek" plus the letter Aleph; three times this equals "Ka'aras Kesef" (a silver bowl), which is needed to atone for the 130 years of Adam HaRishon (the first man). This is because immediately after he passed away, Enosh arrived and claimed that he had created Adam HaRishon. Everyone believed this lashon hara (evil speech)—all the men. It was like Korach, who said that everything was a fata morgana (mirage) or sorcery; however, except for the women, no woman was enticed by this. They said it wasn't a calf; on the Shabbos after Purim, we read Parshas Ki Tisa. We also read about King Saul, who did not wait for the prophet Samuel, and he also did not kill Agag; he claimed Agag was innocent, but Samuel cut him into four pieces. "Agag Melech Amalek" (Agag king of Amalek) has the same gematria (numerical value) as "Saul." Saul came into the world to eradicate Agag, while David came to eradicate Goliath—the word "Middas" (measure) has the same gematria as Goliath. Now, every Purim we rectify this and eradicate Amalek. Everyone should learn with his wife "Mila" (the word) 4:24. Esther is the root of all women in all generations. Every woman needs to eradicate Amalek, just like Esther who subdued Haman. Haman cried out, "Save me from the klipah (evil shell) of Haman-Amalek!" in the middle of the night under Ahasuerus's window, waking him up—this is gezel sheina (stealing sleep)! Ahasuerus asked him, "What do you want?" Haman said, "Save me from the klipah of Haman-Amalek." Ahasuerus told him, "We will hang you on the tree; that is how we will remove you from the klipah of Haman-Amalek." "Save me from the klipah of Haman-Amalek"—that is how Haman left the klipah of Haman-Amalek. Every woman can take her husband out of the klipah of Haman-Amalek. For the men said, "We only want to go to dances," but with every dance and every turn, there was another kiss and another kiss. Hashem (God) forgave for the Golden Calf, but regarding the Spies—Moses was with them, yet you spoke against the Tzaddik? Hashem does not forgive that. Whoever speaks against the Tzaddik, the earth opens up and swallows him—if not today, then tomorrow. The girls should read Tehillim (Psalms) and study Tanakh (Bible), say Chatzos (the Midnight Lament), and wake up at 8:30. They will all open seminaries in Be'eri and Zikim. In Zikim, five hundred terrorists arrived with boats, and they killed the entire rapid response team. David wanted to replace all the Chiefs of Staff, but Joab did not agree; this is the Haftarah (prophetic reading) of Parshas Vayechi. And all the men should finish the Megillah (Tractate Megillah), which is twelve pages.
