On Monday night, the eve of 19 Elul, a strengthening gathering was held in preparation for the holy Kibbutz in Uman for Rosh Hashanah 5784, for the precious young men of the Youth Fellowship connected to our holy community. At 10:00 PM, hundreds of the community’s precious young men filled our Beis Midrash on Ido HaNavi Street. At the beginning of the gathering, the devoted mashgiach—who gives all his strength and resources for the young men of our community—Rabbi Nachman Haas shlit"a, delivered words of encouragement to the bochurim toward the journey. He explained how the learning schedule would work, using the special chart that was distributed to the bochurim, so they could use every single minute for great spiritual ascent on the way to Uman. The bochurim began with heartfelt and awakening songs of the Days of Awe, and songs of yearning. The electrifying atmosphere created by their singing is impossible to describe or even imagine! “Perhaps then I will merit to speak my prayer, and to pour out my heart like water… before the face of Hashem… ai, ai…” It was impossible not to shed tears of emotion from the power of the singing of these holy, precious young men. At 11:45 PM, The Rav shlit"a came down from his holy residence to our Beis Midrash and entered the awakening gathering, as the heartfelt songs grew stronger and stronger with the entrance of The Rav shlit"a.
After a few minutes, The Rav shlit"a began delivering the central address—words of the Living God in flames of fire—about the greatness of traveling to the holy Kibbutz on Rosh Hashanah, and about the need to use every moment while on the road. The Rav shlit"a also aroused everyone regarding guarding one’s eyes on the way to Uman, and said that we now have a week and a half to sanctify and purify ourselves, so that we can arrive to Rebbe Nachman pure and holy. Within his words, he also spoke with holy fire about the point that causes many to fall—especially on trips to Uman—through impure technology devices that have been forbidden by all the Gedolei Yisrael. After the shiur, The Rav shlit"a left the gathering, and the orchestra broke into the song “Uman, Uman, Rosh Hashanah…” with dancing to sweeten the judgments, for the success of the Rosh Hashanah Kibbutz 5784 together with The Rav shlit"a.
