GALLERY: The Post-Yom Kippur Blessing on the New Moon with Rabbi Eliezer Berland

shlit"a

Sep 14, 2021•עורך ראשי

Many Jewish communities have the custom of saying Bircas HaLevanah -- the blessing on the new moon specifically at the conclusion of Yom Kippur.  The reason for this is that until Yom Kippur, we're still suspended in a state of judgement, and Bircas HaLevanah needs to be said with joy.

Immediately after the prayers of Yom Kippur, Bircas HaLevanah was said with great excitement in the central Breslov minyan in the Shul in Meah Shearim in Jerusalem, along with Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a.  The community gathered around the Rav to say Bircas HaLevanah with great excitement and holy enthusiasm. After Bircas HaLevanah which was said slowly, the music began along with dancing.
