"He Was Healed and Began to Hear"
Rabbi Natan Mizrachi Shares the Medical Miracle of His Son Thanks to the Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

"We did not understand that our son's healing was in the merit of the tzaddik, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, and therefore we had to go through many trials until he was finally healed. Therefore, we have come to publicize the medical miracle that occurred in our family," shared Nathan Mizrahi, may he live, regarding the reasons that led him to publish his wondrous story. "At age three, we realized that our son Nachman was not speaking as he should for his age, and from this, we concluded that he was not hearing well," Nathan began his story.
"Beyond that, Nachman was constantly suffering from chronic congestion that caused the ear infections he suffered from, so we took him to a doctor who said he needed to undergo surgery to insert tubes. This was during the period when our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a, had just returned to the country. I wrote a note to the Rav, and he immediately sent me drops. The Rav told me to administer the drops into his ear every hour and the infections would disappear. We truly did as the Rav shlit"a said, and Nachman was healed, but unfortunately, we did not have the wisdom to understand that a great miracle had occurred here. We attributed the healing to all sorts of reasons and even asked the Rav's gabbai for more drops without the Rav's knowledge, because we thought that the medical and natural value of the drops was what healed Nachman. In fact, when we started giving the child the additional drops we obtained without the Rav's knowledge, the infections returned immediately with greater intensity and force."

"At this stage, we turned to a naturopathic doctor who charged a lot of money for the diagnosis and medical treatment; we tried the treatment for several months, but it did not help. In another conversation with the doctor, he suggested that we try other medications, but I, out of desperation, said to my wife, 'I don't think so, let's just do the surgery that was suggested to us from the start.' Throughout this whole time, we did not stop praying for his healing, and so, before we went to perform the surgery, I went, of course, to ask the Rav about our path forward. It is important to mention that after the child was initially healed by the Rav's drops and we did not understand that it was a miracle, we sent more notes to the Rav throughout that time, but he did not answer. And now, when I came to ask about the surgery, the Rav answered immediately. I asked the Rav what to do; at the moment we are giving the child medical treatment under the guidance of a certain doctor, but it is not helping, should we continue with it or perform the surgery?"
"Our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a, simply gave us drops again, and I was very happy because now I already knew that from here our salvation would come. Immediately when I arrived home, we began the treatment that the Rav gave, and to our amazement, by the morning there was no trace of the congestion. At first, it thinned out and became clear, and then it disappeared completely. The child himself woke up happy in the morning, saying to my wife, 'Mommy, I hear the kettle loudly,' his ears had simply healed and opened up. By the time we finished the bottle of drops, the infection had healed completely."
"We were greatly strengthened in faith; there was a revealed miracle here and a change of nature. I went to my son's Rebbe at the Talmud Torah and told him how, after all our efforts, only the drops of Rav Berland helped. The Rebbe was happy, after all the days he was the one who had to worry about cleaning Nachman's congestion during study time. One sees the change of nature when one comes to a tzaddik, and this strengthens one greatly in prayer."
