His Offspring He Took from the World of Atzilus • Heartbreaking: The Young Scholar Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Levkovitz zt"l • On the Connection with Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

On Sunday, Breslov Chassidus was struck with shock and deep sorrow upon the news of the tragic passing in the prime of his life of the descendant of Rebbeinu (the Flowing Brook, Source of Wisdom) zy"a, the important young scholar, purified through suffering, Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Levkovitz zt"l.
Our Holy Rebbe warned "to honor and hold in great importance his children, for they are very precious trees, and very good and wonderful fruits will grow from them. He also said that his offspring he took from the World of Atzilus (the World of Emanation)." In the last two years, Breslov Chassidus became acquainted with the important young scholar Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak Levkovitz, from the Gur Chassidus, who knew of his being a descendant of our Holy Rebbe through his grandfather, the Tzaddik Rabbi Shimshon Barski zy"a. However, at a certain stage during his youth, he found the "Likutey Etzos HaMevuar" (The Explained Collection of Advice) by his great-grandfather Rabbi Shimshon Barski, and thus began to draw closer to the Light of Lights, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. In Pesach 5783 (2023), after complaining of back pain, to our great sorrow, the "terrible illness" (cancer) was discovered in Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak, and his doctors told him his days were numbered. In an interview he gave in the past to the Charedi press, he shared that despite his medical condition, he decided to travel to Uman. Indeed, against all medical predictions, in the merit of his journey, life and years were added to him.
Not many know, but Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak was connected in heart and soul to our teacher, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. From the beginning of his drawing closer, he came many times, at every opportunity he could, to the Rav shlit"a to be strengthened and to delight in his Torah and the wonderful encouragements of the Tzaddik. Even when he was in the hospital, he would frequently speak with the Rav shlit"a and request his blessings for a complete healing (refuah sheleimah). Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak would always say to those around him that the Rav shlit"a is the oxygen pipe through which he merits to fight for his life and overcome all the terrible suffering he endured. Before you is a documentation from within the inner sanctum of the last time Rabbi Chaim Yitzchak visited the Rav shlit"a before he fell into his final sickbed, on which this past Sunday, the 28th of Av, the "angels overcame the giants" (a reference to death) and he passed away suddenly to the chamber of our Holy Rebbe, being only 22 years old!
May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
