"How Did King David Release the Hostages During Biblical Times?" • The Daily

Before you is the full daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days) - yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Tuesday, Parshas Yisro, the night of the 21st of Shevat:

"As we mentioned in previous lessons, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the Carmelite were among the hostages. David did not take into account the Geneva Convention, nor the Hague Convention, nor the Oslo Accords, nor the Camp David Accords. He went after the 'uninvolved'—those 'righteous' people who kidnapped the two women—and eliminated several hundred of them, even though they were supposedly the most 'righteous' in the world. And he brought out Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the Carmelite; he rescued them. Just like Shimon and Levi, who rescued Dinah from the house of Shechem. They didn't take anyone into account—not the Geneva Convention, not the Hague Convention, not the Oslo Accords, and not the Camp David Accords.

Because the moment every woman covers her legs (observes modesty), the war will stop. Every moment that modesty is neglected, hundreds more Jews die each time—hundreds of innocent soldiers, true tzaddikim (righteous people)! Therefore, our work now in this generation is to cover the legs. And to break the Xiaomi (smartphones), where people see terrible, abominable images. This is the cause of the entire war—this Xiaomi and the smartphone. Because of this, there is a war; every day more and more Jews are killed. If everyone completely breaks their Xiaomi and their smartphone, then everyone will fly in the air (experience spiritual elevation and miracles).

Just like during the times of the First Temple and the Second Temple, everyone flew in the air—from Tzipori, from everywhere, from Kfar Shamai, from Tzfat—they would all fly in the air. Every woman wanted to pray in the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple), at the Kotel (Western Wall); she wouldn't give it up. Throughout the entire First and Second Temple periods, no woman gave up on praying at the Kotel, praying in the Beis HaMikdash. Therefore, they all merited to fly in the air. In this merit, may there be the complete Geulah (Redemption) speedily in our days, Amen!"
