Hundreds of Avreichim from Old City Kollel at Shiur with Rav Berland Shlit”a

On Monday night, the 27th of Marcheshvan, Parashat Toldot, a shiur took place at the home of Moreinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit"a for hundreds of avreichim from the Shuvu Banim kollel in the Old City, part of the "Shuvu Banim – Nechamat Tzion" institutions.

Hundreds of avreichim who merit to "kill themselves in the tents of Torah" gathered in our Beit Midrash beneath the Rav’s holy residence and merited to hear words of the Living God for about forty-five minutes. Below is a summary of the topics that the Rav shlit"a mentioned during the shiur:

Eliezer saw everything – he saw that Esav would come from Rivkah, and that the Jewish people would make a calf, and therefore he put bracelets on her hands.

Zohar Tazria: "So that it may go well with me for your sake, and my soul will live because of you" – how does Abraham say such a thing, that you should say you are my sister and in that merit we will receive a lot of money? Rather, in truth, when Abraham left the Land of Israel the angel left him, while Sarah's angel did not leave her, and therefore he told her "and my soul will live because of you."

In the month of Cheshvan, it is possible to bring down a Temple of fire. Now it is the month of Bul; Hashem is punishing the entire world with floods and deluges because they said that the Jews are murderers.

Now the moon is the closest – 356,948 thousand kilometers distance from the earth. One must know all these calculations of the distances of the moon and sun.

It is possible to learn all wisdoms in one hour. When I was a young man, I was against Breslov. The Rabbanit forced me to read.

They asked Eliyahu about Yeshayahu's prophecy: "For when do you prophesy?" He told them: "For today!" If you do teshuvah today, the Third Temple will descend today! The Tzaddik prophesies for today!

The daughter of Kalba Savua wanted only Rabbi Akiva, who said, "Who will give me a Torah scholar that I may bite him like a donkey." This was because she understood that he did not truly hate Torah scholars, but only because they would insult unlearned people. Therefore, he said "I will bite him like a donkey," but in truth in one second he could become a true Tzaddik.

All the most wicked people do teshuvah. Yosef Meshita was willing to be cut into pieces rather than enter the Temple again. Yakum Ish Tzrurot also understood that he was wrong when his uncle Yossi ben Yo'ezer said to him: "What horse awaits you?" So he went and inflicted upon himself the four court-inflicted death penalties.

Yaakov hid away with Shem and Ever, because Esav was looking for him. And when he went to Charan, Eliphaz took all his clothes, and then Hashem arranged for a horseman to come to immerse in the Jordan and the horseman drowned, and Yaakov took the horse and the clothes for himself. And he traveled to Charan because Esav was afraid to reach Lavan, for Lavan was looking for him in order to make him into teraphim, because he was the firstborn.

Avraham said to Eliezer: Do not fear.

Eliezer said to him: What if Lavan slaughters me?

[He replied:] I will protect you.

And if Lavan puts poison for me? And in truth that is what happened, and Avraham said to Eliezer: Go, I will protect you – and through the merit that he believed in the Tzaddik he was saved! The Tzaddik guards everyone. The Tzaddik can fly in the air and pass through walls.

Once the Tannaim and Amoraim would pass through walls. Rabbah bar Nachmani passed through a wall, and it’s bought that Eliyahu HaNavi caused the wall of the palace of Beit Ono to fall in order to free Rav Hamnuna and his group.

The Tzaddik can pronounce the Explicit Name and cause walls to fall and fly in the air!
