In the Lowest Place in the Valley, One Finds a Diamond

Pearls from the holy words of our teacher, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, as delivered from Ayalon Prison, Ramla, on the Tuesday of Parshat Ki Teitzei 5780, 5th of Elul, August 25, 2020.

"You will receive scorpions from me, only scorpions!" Rechavam said to them, "I am not like my father Solomon; with me, it is only scorpions!" Because a person loves scorpions, a person loves a firm hand. Under Solomon, they would wake up at 10:00, 12:00, and the most diligent at 16:00. "Scorpions you will receive from me"—a person loves scorpions! The sign of Scorpio is the eighth month. What is Mar-Cheshvan? Mar-Cheshvan. 'Mar' is an ancient Aramaic word meaning 'month' (yareach), and 'shvan' means 'eighth.'

This is what Rechavam said: "Scorpions are needed here!" And then there will be a Holy Temple of fire. If there are scorpions and they wake up at four in the morning, there will be a Holy Temple of fire. Wake up at four in the morning!! And we will conduct Selichot at 4:00 AM.

A woman has more intellect than a man; she possesses more wisdom and understanding (binah) than a man. Because he studies Gemara and sharpens his intellect, she received intellect as a gift—"Vayiven" (And He built)—extra understanding—the secret was revealed.

What does Rebbe Nachman say, that "through Luz one reaches Beit El"? What is this, military tactics? Is this a battlefield?! Who cares how they conquered Beit El? Through Luz, or through Shita, or Tidhar, or just a tunnel?! Rather, Rebbe Nachman says, this is the entire Tree of Life here in this Torah! That through Luz one enters Beit El; this is the Luz bone, it can never be destroyed, and from it will be the resurrection of the dead. Even King Solomon, whose mother broke his collarbone, but she could not break the Luz; from it, he arose anew. Okay, so he got up at ten, what happened?! Oh, what blows, what slaps she gave him! His wife put him to sleep—Pharaoh's daughter, not his mother; she was a witch, a lowly witch. Eight in the morning he wakes up, sees the moon; nine, he sees stars; he wakes up at nine, the planet Mars; at ten, such darkness...
