"King David Did Not Waste a Single Second of His Life" - The Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in Consolation of Mourners - All the Holy Sights

On Sunday of Parshat Chayei Sarah 5779, as part of the holy journeys and self-sacrifice for the Jewish people, the esteemed righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a came to console mourners. The Rav shlit"a poured words of comfort upon the heads of the family members until their spirits were restored to them, these are his words.
"The neshamah (soul) is here and it sees us. It sees how we come to comfort it and share in its sorrow, because on one hand it is already good for it, it is in a world that is entirely good, it has completed its tikkun in this world. But, on the other hand, we want it to be with us, and these are two opposite things, for the neshamah has completed the tikkun, it has already gone to its world."
"King David lived 70 years, but it is said that it is like a thousand years, because in life David did not sleep, he was awake at night, he lived three times more than the whole world. Because, a person sleeps a third, eats a third, barely has an hour, two hours left, but David did not waste a single second. The 70 years of David are like 210 and like a thousand. 'For a thousand years in Your eyes are like yesterday when it passes' (Psalms 90:4). 'For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand, I would choose to stand at the threshold of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness' (Psalms 84:11), one day with You is better for me than a thousand with someone else, you had such a tzaddik father, such a tzaddik husband that one day of his was like a thousand years."
