Listen: On the Plane to Uman – Rabbi Stern Speaks About the Holy Journey to Rebbe Nachman's Tzion
"We are on the plane on the way to Rebbe Nachman in Uman, and we hope that Rebbe Nachman has invited us to arrive in peace," begins Rabbi Shmuel Stern shlit"a, head of the 'Nachalei Netzach' institutions. "The holy Rebbe said that on Rosh Hashanah, he can accomplish things that he cannot accomplish during the rest of the year. Rebbe Nachman teaches a lesson regarding Elisha, the 'Man of God'—that when people gathered around him, he was called 'Man of God,' because when a large public comes to the Rebbe, the Rebbe can perform awesome deeds. Every single person who comes to Uman to the Rebbe is a tremendous and awesome matter."
"Rebbe Nachman said, 'It goes without saying that you need me, but the whole world needs me.' It is not just Jews; the Rebbe effects salvations even for the nations of the world, in order that there be peace in the world. And it is an accepted tradition among our community that the Rebbe ensures a favorable judgment for whoever comes to him already on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Of course, this refers to an addition of holiness that one receives on the first night, in order to draw this down for all the days of Rosh Hashanah."

"Rebbe Nachman says that on Rosh Hashanah, three 'heads' gather together: 1. Coming to the Tzaddik, who is called 'Head.' 2. Rosh Hashanah, which is called 'Head.' 3. The person who comes is called 'Head.' All three 'heads' connect, and through this, everything that is needed is accomplished. May we merit a good Bereishis (beginning) by arriving at the 'Head,' for us and for all the Nation of Israel, for a good and sweet year and a Chatima Tova (good sealing)." These are the words of Rabbi Shmuel Stern shlit"a.
