As a full year was completed since the tragic drowning of the pure young man Shimon Heller z"l, son of the chassidic Rabbi Natan Heller (may he be separated for a long life), today a Yahrzeit meal was held in his memory in the hall of the Mageni Eretz Yeshivah

At the meal, several of the mashpi’im of our community and rabbanim who are friends of the family spoke about the greatness of that refined and pure youth, who was taken suddenly to the Heavenly Yeshivah on the day after Isru Chag Pesach last year, 5781.

His father as well spoke—Rabbi Natan Heller shlit"a (may he be separated for good life)—and described Shimon’s self-sacrifice for everything holy, and his deep bond to Torah and to the Tzaddik.

This past Shabbos, Rabbi Berland shlit"a called Rabbi Natan Heller shlit"a up to the Torah, and between aliyos Rabbi Berland shlit"a delivered a brief eulogy for Shimon z"l, speaking for a minute about the young man’s greatness.

Last night, on Motzaei Shabbos Kodesh—the night of the Yahrzeit—a completion of the entire Shas Mishnayos was held in his memory by the “Chaburas Bnei HaNe’urim” of the holy community of “Shuvu Banim.” From 2:30 in the morning until first light, the bochurim sat and learned, in his memory, the Six Orders of Mishnah. At the siyum, held after Shacharis, the bochurim—Shimon z"l’s friends—were strengthened by Rabbi Moshe Tzanani shlit"a, one of the greatest students of Rabbi Berland shlit"a.
