MUST WATCH: Rabbi Berland’s Words Before the Tens of Thousands Who Arrived to Celebrate the Central Hilula of Rebbe Nachman and the Release of the Rav shlit”a

Amazing. The following words were written when our Teacher, the holy and righteous Gaon, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit”a, was released to the "Sukkah of Peace" with great joy on the 18th of Tishrei, 5778 – and we so greatly anticipate that this will be fulfilled again today. These are the words.

The gathering of tens of thousands in honor of the release of the holy and righteous Gaon, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit”a. In perfect timing, as the entire Nation of Israel celebrates the Simchat Beit HaShoeva (Water Drawing Celebration), and truly as if by invitation, the day of Rabbi Berland shlit”a’s release coincided with the day of the Hilula (anniversary of passing) of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.

The joy began with a festive holiday meal in honor of the Fourth Meal of the Melaveh Malkah (Escorting the Queen) of the Holy Shabbat, and immediately afterwards, Rabbi Berland shlit”a sang the Melaveh Malkah songs with the crowd.

After the Melaveh Malkah songs and the opening ceremony of the Hilula event for the Tzaddik Yesod Olam (Righteous Foundation of the World), Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, the greats of Chassidic music ascended to sing, with Motty Steinmetz being the first to take the stage.

The Torah words of our Teacher, the holy and righteous Gaon, Rabbi Eliezer Berland, for the Yahrtzeit of our holy Rebbe

"The main thing is to be a shoemaker; everyone from Shuvu Banim needs to learn how to be a shoemaker," began Rabbi Berland shlit”a with words of Torah that captivated all those present. "Chanoch (Enoch) sewed shoes. All the tzaddikim sewed shoes for the Shechinah (Divine Presence) so that she could descend below ten handbreadths. Specifically, this was the work of Rebbe Nachman, as he brought in the stories of the tales regarding the Simple One who was a shoemaker." "Rebbe Nachman is the Simple One who sews a triangular shoe—shoes that were always funny-looking, but upon every shoe, he would make a unification and say, 'Blessed be the Name of His glorious Kingdom for ever and ever.' That every movement, every glance, every breath of ours should be only to magnify the Name of His glorious Kingdom for ever and ever. The Shechinah is Leah; Leah is the upper Shechinah and Rachel is the lower Shechinah. Rachel is the Second Temple and Leah is the First Temple. Leah is the first [letter] Yud and Rachel is the second."

"We need to sew shoes for the heels of Leah because the entire Sitra Achra (Other Side) nurses from there. Bilaam nurses from the right heel, Balak nurses from the left heel, because after the sin of Adam HaRishon, the legs—the heels of Leah—were snatched. Since then, the Sitra Achra runs wild with terrible blemishes of the covenant, and Rebbe Nachman says that the only advice is to lift up the heels, to sew shoes for the heels. If one wants to sweeten the judgments, to escape the blemishes of the covenant, it is only through the dancing that lifts the heels, whereby one merits joy and the sweetening of judgments." "From the age of 13, one already needs to perform *Kriah* (tearing of mourning clothes). At this age, a person already cuts off his peyos, throws away the hat, the kippah. At age 13, one should already sit *shiva* (seven days of mourning) for the person and weep over him; perhaps Hashem will have mercy and he won't cut off his peyos. For a person has no free will regarding guarding the covenant; it is not in his hands because the Evil Inclination burns within him like 70 bonfires. His choice lies in whether to lift up his heels [in dance]."

"The greatest *Yichud* (seclusion/unification) is when a person is with himself—a person for one moment in the innermost chambers with himself. The parents traveled to Uman and then the Evil Inclination runs wild inside him; this is the greatest prohibition of *Yichud*, that he is alone in the house. He needs to scream like Amram who screamed, 'Nura bei Amram!' (Fire in the house of Amram!). A person is forbidden to remain alone in the house; he should travel with his parents to the wedding, or go to a God-fearing friend."
