The Secret of “According to Their Skulls, According to Their Families, According to Their Fathers’ House”

All the nations will come before the Holy One, blessed be He, with a claim: Why doesn’t He offer them to receive the Torah—because they, too, want to receive the Torah. The Gemara says: Hashem tells them, “Bring your scroll of lineage.” For the nations have no fathers—only mothers—so it follows that no one has a scroll of lineage, because most of the nations’ children are not truly theirs. But among Israel, everyone traces their lineage through the fathers, and therefore only the People of Israel are worthy to receive the Torah.
