Prayer Before Donning Rabbeinu Tam Tefillin
The Tefillin of Rabbeinu Tam come to rectify the terrible blemish of the destruction of the First Temple, which occurred in the year 3338 (ג' שלח), in the secret of the verse, "You shall surely send away [shalach teshallach] the mother bird," and the destruction of the Generation of the Dispersion (Dor HaPalaga), which also occurred in the year 338 (של"ח) [because there were 340 years from the Flood until the Dispersion, and two years are subtracted for the birth of Arpachshad], in the secret of 'Efer Kasd' (the ashes of the Chaldeans - an anagram of Arpachshad). For Shem wanted to sweeten (mitigate) the destruction of the First Temple, which was brought about by the Chaldeans (Kasdim), through his son Arpachshad, who lived 438 years (338 + 100), corresponding to the 100 daily blessings. Because through donning the Tefillin of Rabbeinu Tam, one ascends to the Kesser (Crown) of Adam Kadmon (the highest primordial spiritual realm), and all evil inclinations, all foreign thoughts, and all forbidden sights are completely nullified. One will not know of any illness, any sorrow, or any harm. And each and every person will merit to find his true soulmate (shidduch) from the Six Days of Creation, from the light of the Seven Days. He will merit to have ten sons and ten daughters, and the verse will be fulfilled in him: "There shall be no barren male or female among you or among your livestock." And all of his haters and enemies will fall beneath him, as it is stated (Devarim 7:23-24): "Hashem your God will deliver them before you, and He will confound them with a great panic until they are destroyed. He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy their name from under the heavens; no man will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them." "Moreover, Hashem your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left and those who hide from you perish. You shall not be terrified of them, for Hashem your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God." "Do not say in your heart, when Hashem your God pushes them away from before you, saying, 'Because of my righteousness Hashem has brought me to possess this land,' and because of the wickedness of these nations Hashem drives them out from before you. Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you coming to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations Hashem your God drives them out from before you, and in order to establish the word that Hashem swore to your forefathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Yaakov."
